MVC Collection is the best one so far, and the only one worth getting legally.
Norimaro is one of the best joke characters in fighting games history.

Capcom vs. SNK is a way more interesting direction to go for me personally and would love to see it happen!

the physical cartridge version has been a great price from Amazon US for a long time time now $24.88.

@JohnnyMind Nah. CAPCOM's, NAMCO's, SNK's, and ASW's DLC practices and current fighting games are trash if compared to the old ones.
Literally the only one current fighting game worth getting and praise is UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II [Sys:Celes].

I'm curious to see if Capcom want to explore more from fighting games by making cute Chibi Boxer / Kickboxer games with similar gameplay style like Street Fighter and whimsical & silly fighting style like Pocket Fighter and aimed for younger audiences.

I love this collection, just like the other ones from Capcom. The Punisher in this one is a cherry on top! Congrats, insanely good release.

@Vyacheslav333 im holding onto hope that they are opening a door to CVS 3, but you could be right. Maybe their current approach with DLC is proving too effective financially to have them take the time for a legitimate sequel.

I cannot express my desire enough for a new SNK vs Capcom (or vise-versa) game. I don’t care if it’s 3D style like the current City of the Wolves and SF6, or if it’s a traditional sprite-based game of old. Just gimme a new one!

In addition to my previous comment, I really want to see a full-fledged fighting game based on the Project X-Zone games.

It could be the biggest crossover fighting game since Smash Bros (If you exclude MUGEN)

@Vyacheslav333 People have too much nostalgia. Yes, there's many great fighting games from years ago, but there's also many fantastic current ones and the genre has never been more accesible than it is now. Besides, it's the fighting community that kills games when they don't get DLC. DNF Duel is a great game that suffered that fate. Once they made DLC, which was a year after, people already "lost interest" and it was "too little too late". So not only do people want DLC, they want the kind of content that could have been on the original release as they expect it to come soon. I'm not in favor of corporations but neither against them. It's a business practice and they just give what people want because they are interested in making as much profit as possible. Under Night in Birth 2 is a great game, but they are also making DLC.

I'd like a collection with the console versions of Street Fighter instead of the arcade ones. Particularly the SNES versions of Street Fighter 2! Also the Street Fighter EX games have yet to be re-released in a collection.

What I really want is the Alpha Anthology that came out on PS2.

The Alpha games on the 30th Anniversary Collection are great but the Anthology versions were all superior.

I am hoping that a collection with Ultimate 3 and Infinite and the EX games (with maybe XTekken) shows up. Also still hoping USF4 goes to Switch Family.

@JohnnyMind @roy130390 @NintendoJunkie The problem is, they are riding on nostalgia too much. Imagine telling someone years ago, during SFV and TEKKEN 7 days, that Vega (Dictator) and Heihachi will become PAID DLC characters?
TEKKEN 8's Season Passes are TEKKEN 7's DLC characters reuse (Fahkumram, Lidia) and base roster playable characters turned into paid DLC ones (Eddy, Heihachi, Armor King).
SF6 has paid DLC Gōki, Sagat, Vega (Dictator), Ed, Rashid...
Garō Densetsu: City of the Wolves is a joke of a joke. Real people guest characters in the base roster, no Freeman and Kim Jae Hoon, Jyō Higashi and Andy Bogard as first DLC characters.
Guest DLC characters became a plague now. Old franchises have too much not used 'cause unplayable/underused characters to spend slots on some guests bs.
They just keep recycling the same characters as DLC ones twice and trice in a row.
That's why I highlight UNI2 so much – it has new playable characters in the Season Pass. No DLCs twice/trice in a row, no base roster characters turned into DLC ones. All characters from the first game are in the roster. Also, Season Pass costs just 10$USD. 10 bucks for 3 new playable characters, or 20/25 bucks for shameless reused DLC characters?

It's pretty cool that the vast majority of Capcom's 80s-90s arcade repertoire is avaible on switch. I really just want the AvP and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs beat em ups at this point, but I know the licenses make that unlikely.

@Vyacheslav333 Even Skullgirls fell off with their DLC and everything that came after it. Aside from Under Night 2 and City of the Wolves (I really like SNK / Fatal Fury), I only really play old fighting games now.

@Vyacheslav333 I think you're a little harsh on Cotw, the dlc is free, the guest characters are more "bonus" if anything, and the devs have already stated their intentions to bring every fatal fury character back into the roster over time.

@ArcadianLegend99 I’d be down for a SEGA arcade series. Make collections including action, puzzle, fighting, brawlers, sports, shmups, etc. I’m loving my ACA NEOGEO Selection volumes 1-6 lately.

I’m probably alone on this, but I want this from Konami too. Put them on a cart and use the Hamster arcade ports in a wrapper, and I’m there. I’d snatch them all up. Sort of reminds me of the Japan only PS2 collections I never got to have in the West.

@OwenGamer22 Skullgirls has one hell of a history and controversies, lol. The game died for me after the second biggest censorship update.
UNI2 is a peak among the current, overwhelmingly disappointing fighting games. Type Lumina is unfinished and doesn't deserve to be called a Melty Blood game. I've bought it before Cloudflare/Amazon servers throttling in my country. It's kinda sad that it's one of the last games that I was able to buy digitally on Switch... I can't even redownload the already purchased ones. 😡
As for the other fighting games... I want CHAOS CODE sequel and Daraku Tenshi: The Fallen Angels Revenge to see the light of the day, but it seems like they either stuck in development hell or aren't in developer's priorities. 😔
And, yeah, I want to see more ports and collections of old fighting games. Most modern ones are too much disappointing and don't give that much hope for the bright future of the genre.

Guest characters are wasted slots (KOF exists for this thing), Higashi with Andy are disappointing picks. Mr. Big is the only one cool addition there. Like, the last time he was playable was back in... KOF XI? Lol.
Ronaldo and Salvatore are nonsense. No Freeman and Kim Jae Hoon in the base roster is a crime.

MBAACC is a thing, it's a better game, and a real Melty Blood. Also, Tsukihime remake itself is trash. It's one of the reasons why Type Lumina is unworthy of a Melty Blood title.

@Vyacheslav333 Man when's the last time you've played real kusoge, like Sailor Moon snes? Cotw has fantastic gameplay, mechanics and artstyle, just a small roster.

@Vyacheslav333 While you can play a lot of old fighting games via Fightcade, it is nice to have official collections.

I have Fightcade myself on my laptop. Very easy to install and use!

As someone whose barely played fighting games the past 15 years, I've really enjoyed what I've played of the collection so far. I'll probably never be that good at most fighting games, nor am I interested to put in the time, but MVC2 was always the game where you could be bad at it and still enjoy it purely as a crazy, visual spectacle, and that remains true here. (though I at least understand how to be competent at these games now)

Am I the only one who wishes they were like the older releases. Where you have to unlock the characters and not everything is unlocked from the get go?

Sure they had to remove Sion since type moon decided it would be a prequel to Tsukihime but the game is still very fun. The shield system is really cool and the moon skills have a bunch of uses. Just because it got rid of the moon styles doesn’t mean it’s not a real Melty

@OwenGamer22 Fightcade is about «arcade-perfect» and competitive multiplayer experience, from what I've heard and seen. I don't care about these things. I rather console ports in most cases. Playable sub-bosses, bosses, console exclusive playable characters, extra single-player modes, arranged soundtrack... Yeah, that's what I'd like to have.
@Chocobo777 Type Lumina is worse than MBAACC in more things. Count in roster, plot, seiyūs cast, characters' design. And, sadly, Type Lumina is an unfinished game, thanks to Nasu himself. F/GO Servants were wasted slots, while Artoria Saber was an expected and boring choice. I've beaten F/sn last year. Shirō Emiya (UBW route), Medusa Rider, Herakles Berserker, Sōichirō Kuzuki, even Shinji Matō himself would be a more interesting and funny pick, lol.

Tekken, Mortal Kombat and Street fighter have relegated most of their older characters to paid DLC

@Vyacheslav333 if I recall correctly, you can play Dreamcast versions of some games like MvC2 and Vampire Savior on Fightcade… I may need to double check that. It’s been a while since I’ve used it bc of school and other games

@liljmoore In those collections you can turn off secret characters and then pretend that you're in the 90s by unlocking them the normal way. For example in MARVEL vs. Capcom 1, if you turn off secret characters, that means you won't get to pick them easily, instead you had to use the original arcade codes to unlock them. Same thing for the Akuma code in X-Men: Children of the Atom, if you don't want to easily pick him, just turn off the secret characters and then you can use the Akuma code from the PS1 or Sega Saturn to play as him instead.

By doing this you will never get to play as Juggernaut and Magneto cause both had no playable codes in that game. In MARVEL vs. Capcom 2 if you turn secret characters off, you can unlock them one by one by how many times you insert coins into the game. If you turn on Free Play while doing that then you won't be able to unlock them at all. It's really up to you if you want to play those games the old ways or the new ways. For most of us we just had them unlock from the get-go and just get to playing.

I’d love to see another Marvel Vs. Capcom game, just not another Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite.

People had it wrong when they thought this was collection was about laying the groundwork for a new MVC. What have we seen since then? The new Arc System Works game that’s inspired by MVC, Hasbro and Bandai are putting out figures that are MVC inspired while never crediting Capcom, even Cosmic Invasion is full of obvious MVC nods, seems clear to me that Marvel’s ultimate goal is mining MVC nostalgia while not actually making a new game with Capcom, the collection was basically marketing for all this. Regardless the collection is great and I’m grateful it was able to happen.

@SalvorHardin It's likely Capcom released the MARVEL vs. Capcom Fighting Collection in response to Maximilian Dood's Free MARVEL vs. Capcom 2 campaign and not really about them planning a new entry in the MARVEL vs. Capcom series. If anything the MARVEL vs. Capcom series is as good as done. They could still remastered MARVEL vs. Capcom 3 or Ultimate MARVEL vs. Capcom 3 or the two Super NES games for PS5, Switch 2, and Steam but I doubt they'll make a new entry in the MARVEL vs. Capcom series any time soon. The MARVEL gaming license is now in the hands of Arc System Works and DotEmu so Capcom can't do anything new with those IPs at the moment.

It's funny how much different sound effects and music can taint the nostalgia you have for games. The sound chips were so distinct back then. I had the same problem when I brought the Switch version of Flashback which used the Amiga version and not the SNES one I grew up with.

Cool, but as much as it pains me, without crossplay I just can’t buy a fighter on Switch, especially legacy/retro releases: unfortunately the player base is just not there. On the other hand, I’ve bought SF6 on NS2 the minute they announced crossplay and features parity.

@Suketoudara The thing is Nintendo doesn't control which Street Fighter game to be included on NSO. That same game was included for NSO cause it was also included in the Sega Genesis Mini and so it's easier to just put that there. It's likely the Super NES versions of those games would come later but not all at once.

Too bad it was censored. Guess we can't protect those "kids" on the internet with such dirty artwork and gameplay. Oh well, Capcom sure is a coward nowadays and can only produce half-baked products (from which most of them are awful remakes.)
