Here we'll list retailers with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Switch pre-orders - Switch 2. The game is releasing across both consoles, so make sure you're getting the version you want, digital or physical! (Scroll down for Switch 1.)
Pre-orders from My Nintendo Store UK all come with a bonus keyring depicting Samus' thunderbolt-style 'S'.
Pre-order Metroid Prime 4 for Switch 1
And if you'll be playing the new Metroid on your trusty Switch 1, here are the options (and remember, there's always the Upgrade Pack option as and when you pick up a Switch 2 in the future).
As with the Switch 2 version, My Nintendo Store UK pre-orders come with the same bonus keyring.
Pre-order Metroid Prime 4 with eShop Credit
If you're going digital, you may need to top up your eShop credit. As seems to be the trend in the UK, the digital S2 version is cheaper, slightly, coming in at £57.98 - although that's a marginal saving compared to £58.99 for the physical. (The Switch 1 version is £49.99 physical or digital.)
Remember to make sure you apply the credit to the account you're using to purchase the game!
Pre-order Metroid Prime 4: Beyond amiibo (Samus, Samus & Bike, Sylux)
Nintendo is launching three new amiibo alongside the game - two featuring Samus (one solo, the other astride her natty new bike, Vi-O-La), one showing Sylux.
Samus and Samus & Vi-O-La arrive on 6th November, nearly a full month before Sylux joins the lineup on the game's launch day (4th December).
Which edition will you be picking up? Do you like the look of any of those amiibo? Let us know below.

Glad for this article. It's so hard to figure out where to buy video games these days 😉
Yep just waiting on payday. Gonna get all the amiibo.
I'm definitely getting this in a few weeks.
Will never miss another metroid amiibo ever again after paying the ebay scalper price on the 2 pack from 2017.
Friendly reminder that the first Amiibo were €12.99 each.
The 'inflation' gang can explain to me why my income didn't triple.
‘ As seems to be the trend in the UK, the digital version is cheaper, coming in at £58.99 (versus £66.99 for a physical copy).’
Is that physical price a typo?
Is the upgrade official for this game? I want to pick the switch1 version and upgrade because the cover on the Switch 2 box looks so cluttered and ugly.
@MCHuddle Just can't t understand why they thought that red Nintendo Switch 2 banner covering a huge portion of the cover area would be a good idea. It's just so ugly!
@John_Deacon it never occurred to me, but you’re exactly right. The spine doesn’t quite make up for it.
@PinderSchloss
first, can you explain how €19.99 is triple €12.99 ?
@Drew250 yes, the confusion comes because physical S2 exclusive games have a higher RRP than digital (+£8 in UK). but physical NS2E games don't have that.
December just can't come any faster...
I have all the previous Metroid amiibos, but I am skipping out on them going forward it seems. I can't justify $100 on these three, the prices are absurd now
Now I'm wondering if they added bike gameplay so they could come up with a new amiibo. 😂
Looks like a certain someone's politics caught up with Nintendo prices in the US.
These newly announced amiibos are all a good chunk cheaper in Europe.
@PinderSchloss I think the more recent ones do tend to be a little bigger but I also "only" pay 5€ more compared to early ones.
I'd love that Samus + bike amiibo, but no way I'm dropping that kind of crazy cash.
Got my pre order in as soon as they went up 😄.
Im gonna wait for reviews and probably use MKW and DKB as trade ins
I don't know who Sylux is but that amiibo looks familiar. Is there a chance I have a Dark Samus amiibo or something from Smash or another Metroid game?
Edit: So we do own that Sylux looking amiibo. We do not own normal Samus but we do own the Captain America looking version in the Dread 2 pack w/ EMMI. Also Metal Rudley I believe. Certainly don't need any more. Picked up the Dread 2-.pack for $15.99 clearance at Best Buy, a good price.👍
So has Nintendo told us what all of these crazy expensive toys to life do in game? You should be able to mail in the 3 bar codes and get the game for free. 🤑
During the most recent Direct, I was quite surprised how Nintendo just drifted over the latest trailer. Slotted casually amongst other games, without any sort of special introduction or post game to camera chat.
I thought the bike shots were part of some new tacky Metroid Racer title, it was at this point I’ve started to believe that Nintendo are aware that this game is not going to be a 10/10 smash. It will be considered OK, perhaps somewhat of a disappointment. I feel that they’re trying to downplay the weight of 7-8 years of expectation and hype.
This price point now confirms it for me, £49.99 for the Switch 2 Edition? They’re charging £60 for the two game Mario Galaxy bundle! A few years ago, Nintendo argued TOTK’s high price point as a reflection of its years of development, if you applied this to Metroid Prime 4, it should cost about £100.
I think the low price point will help shift plenty of units, and avoid an angry backlashing. I think it’s a very smart move, but does show that Nintendo themselves are prepared for a bit of a stinker.
I was hoping Metroid Prime 4 might have a collector's edition. Similar to what we got with Dread.
@sketchturner We can buy games!? Wow.
@ShonenJump121 https://store.nintendo.co.uk/en/metroid-prime-4-beyond-nintendo-switch-2-edition-power-bundle-B00913
Apparently, Europe is getting one, but not the US???
@CaptChaos Switch RRP is £49.99, Switch2 RRP is £58.99. physical NS2E games don't have a higher RRP than digital, like physical Switch2 exclusive games do
@Kilroy Dang. Europe gets the cool stuff.
@Patendo shots fired.
I got no horse in that race since I don't own a switch 2.
They definitely solved my compulsive amiibo buying with those ticked up prices. I'm absolutely fine to just keep squishing the squishy Metroid amiibo from 2017 whenever I want some amiibo action.
@ShonenJump121 It's possible they just came out with it first and US is coming later. I've seen pre-order bonuses for other games be announced at different times for different regions
@sketchturner it's just so Nintendo life can make a few cents on links to purchases I assume
want this just waiting to get some funds
no amiibo tho
Don't pre-order unless given a SIGNIFICANT physical bonus. NEVER pre-order digital. Think they are going to run out of bits?
@jco83 hello, I’m not sure I quite understand your reply, but there a literal link there, for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of this game, for £49.99 from Smyths. That’s a remarkable price point, makes it one of the cheapest Switch 2 physical games available. Yet the Mario Galaxy bundle is £60.00. I can’t help but feel these lower prices are telling us something. Surely there’s limitations and rules to how low a price point can be from genuine retailers, so as not to undermine its value.
@jco83 Ok it wasn't fair to compare the bike to an early Smash Amiibo, but the profit on those was already insane.
They can't justify that price hike just because of some extra plastic. That's not the biggest cost in making these. It's mostly the design/development and marketing, which is still almost exactly the same amount of work as Toon Link.
Do we have any info yet about upgrading from the Switch 1 to the Switch 2 version? If I buy the Switch 1 cart, will it work in my OLED for my son to play and the Switch 2 for me to play? If so, is there an upgrade pack, or is it a free download? Anyone know?
@JimmyFleck yes it's no secret this is an original Switch game which also has a "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" release (original game + Upgrade Pack). and yes the Upgrade Pack is available to purchase separately.
but remember that NS2E cartridge games do also work in original Switch consoles. so you can buy the NS2E physical game and play it on S2 consoles & original Switch consoles [without S2 upgrades]
@CaptChaos It costs £58 / $70 for the Switch 2 Edition. It's priced in line with DK Bananza. The reason it costs less than say MKW is because it's a Switch 2 Edition rather than an exclusive and it's not as big an IP as Zelda. Plus they want the series to be more popular than it is.. This was most likely the reason why MP Remastered was cheaper.
Talking of Remastered... the incredible job Retro did with that, makes me confident MP4 will be top tier. 9/10 at worst.
Do we know what these Amiibo will do in-game? Never really understood the appeal of these things.
@CaptChaos this is actually the 1st NS2E first-party game where the base game is standard price-tier (£49.99 RRP), which doesn't have additional "+DLC" content included with the Upgrade Pack (as seen with Mario Party Jamboree & Kirby Forgotten Land, which bumped their NS2E price up further).
both Zelda games are higher price-tier base games (£59.99 RRP).
yes it seems Mario Galaxy + Mario Galaxy 2 is a higher price-tier game (£58.99 RRP), but it is available from various retailers for ~£49.99 👍
@CaptChaos The reason it's £49.99 at Smyths is the same reason the Switch version can be had for ,£43, physical editions can always be had cheaper than the RRP.
@Kilroy Why isn't US getting the metal posters?! Outrageous.
40 bucks for the cycle?! Man, with the price of amiibos skyrocketing - and I understand at least part of the reason for that in the US anyway - they could at least make sure that the in-game unlockables are well worth it. They can provide that without worrying about the manufacturing/importing factors. The DK Bananza amiibo was nice looking, but the in-game rewards were paltry. Give them functionality that is at least semi-worthwhile! I'm a sucker for Metroid merch too, but, at those prices I just don't think I can do it.
@jco83 I'm usually up on these things...particularly big first party releases, but have totally missed this. Thank you. Do we know how much the upgrade pack will cost?
When you see the UK prices, they really haven't upped the prices that much for the basic amiibo. They were £12.99 originally, and now £16.99. Sure, the bigger cycle one is more expensive, but the individual character ones are only slightly more expensive, which can simply be put down to normal inflation. Americans only have Trump tariffs to blame for their large price jumps.
@JimmyFleck https://www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Games/Nintendo-Switch-2-Edition/Metroid-Prime-4-Beyond-Nintendo-Switch-2-Edition-2790001.html tap on "Upgrade pack"
@Trikeboy Amiibo were £10.99 originally 🙂
It looks like DK & Pauline amiibo was my first and last amiibo.
I'm so annoyed every time I see a tariff comment. Tariff on Japanese goods excluding metal, automobiles is 15%. The normal amiibo with tariff should be 18.49 US. The bike 28.99. Add a little inflation maybe 20 bucks and 31. Ridiculous argument if you know the numbers. Even if they're getting China rate tariff its 21 and 32 base. So yes factors but much bigger factor is pure Nintendo greed. Don't even get me started on the Galaxy and Kirby ones.
These Metroid amiibo don't look as cool as the previous ones
@Trikeboy more people need to know who is causing these issues!
