UK Charts: Borderlands 4 Debuts Strong Ahead Of Switch 2 Release

it has to be a bit rough for Daemon X Machina guys that Armored Core VI is still in the top 40 and has rebounded into the 20's whereas X Machina dropped out of the charts after 1 week. Glad to see Cronos still in the charts, although the Switch2 split on that is dismal.

A quarter of the top 40 are Nintendo first party or exclusive third party games. Insane. Who says Nintendo doesn't sell so well in UK?!

@WheresWaveRace people are sick of the decay and slop of console and PC games. I just ditched my top end rig to come back to Nintendo. It's all slop over there. I missed FUN games, Nintendo are the only company with strong first party games that are gameplay based (unlike Sonys cinematic slop), whimsical titles like platformers, and true system sellers like Zelda and Metroid and Mario Kart etc. I'll never build another PC, there is little incentive to shell out £2500 and then worry about constant maintenance etc. When the game's just keep getting worse.

Hype for the Switch 2 version. Nice to see more Nintendo games selling there.

Sales might be doing ok but they got to make a ***** ton of money to break even. Personally I will wait for a bundle with all dlc in a few years.

Watched a gameplay video of Borderlands 4 last night, and it does look like a lot fun. I really want it on Switch 2, so desperately hoping performance is decent…

Borderlands is a dead series really, 4 looks to be worse than 3. It's selling well because there are hardly any good games being made anymore on console or PC so people go mad for anything that could even possibly be fun. Especially as this genre is hardly represented now with Destiny 2 having been ran into the ground and put on life support. No innovation happening or progression with gaming, 2025 has possibly been the worst year ever for console and PC gaming in terms of releases. Nintendo have also started on the remake bandwagon but thankfully still have a strong first party programme setting them apart from the competition.

My friend got boardlands 4 on series X on Friday him and me never played a boardlands game before we played 3 hours I think it pretty good I will be picking it up at the end of the year for sure but first I'm saving up for my switch 2 and games at the moment happy gaming everyone from Sydney Australia 💙💙💙🕹️🎮🕹️🎮

After hearing how poorly Borderlands 4 runs on the Ally X, im hoping the Switch 2 version can offer stable performance.

I also wonder if any of the Switch Borderlands games will recieve Switch 2 editions in the future.

@Telcontyr have you ever heard of indie games or double a games? this year has been one of the best years, if not THE best year, for mid budget titles.

Long time BL fan, and I can only hope the story and hilarity are back and better than 3. 3 was strong for mechanics and builds, but the rest was rather meh (at least for the first year, haven’t played any of the dlc since release)…..replaying on Switch and its def better than it was for launch year. What little I’ve played of Wonderlands beats BL3 - tho I know endgame WL is crap comparatively to BL3.

Patiently awaiting the Switch 2 release, which is fine, still working through Cyberpunk.

It’s funny as these are physical sales, yet there isn’t anywhere hardly anywhere left to buy physical where I am from.

@CurryPowderKeg79 not sure if you saw the Series X and S side by side that was posted, but the Series S version ran really well. I anticipate very similar results as the the series S version as most games have been running close to that on S2. Usually at a slightly lower res, or decreased frame cap.

@Telcontyr Claire obscure, silk song, split-fiction, doom the dark ages, death stranding, kingdom come deliverance 2, MTGD you probably know. There are quite of good games this year idk what your talking about. I do agree though it does feel kinda bland this console generation. Maybe it’s me but I feel like it’s bland because every console has every game pretty much cross platform and cross-play like I think non exclusivity in games is what makes it feel dole. Which is why I think Nintendo is kinda winning with the switch two being the fastest selling because they have good games with being exclusive to Nintendo, while pc, ps, Xbox all have pretty much the same bland games cause exclusivity isn’t really there. Also Xbox don’t really have any games and PlayStation comes out with one every once in a while but the usually it comes to pc. Plus pc really has been getting really bad unoptimized games which kinda leaves a bad taste for anyone on pc.

@Audiogore0733 KCD2 is the only big release there in my opinion, Doom Dark Ages was the worst entry in the entire series if you ask me. Of course opinions differ but as a gamer since the late 80s I call it how I see it and 2025 feels like the industry is in steep decline. It's why I've gravitated back to Nintendo. Like, I have no interest at all in third party games (more inferior ports) on Switch 2, I only buy Nintendo exclusives because they have enough that you can build an entire library around that and many are just more innovative and fun. Absolutely agree about the technical issues that are worsening over time with PC, broken drivers, broken ports, broken updates, day 1 unoptimised broken games, overpriced hardware that really is not in ratio to the price/technical gains equation at all, poor QA on a lot of hardware meaning lots of maintenance. I'm currently trying to sell my 5080 build that I've had less than a year. Huge regret in building it.

@Dm9982 As someone who put a lot of time into 3 and WL, with no prior D&D experience, I found WL to be the better game overall. Yeah the endgame is stiff, besides bosses you get 2 different rouge-lite modes and one is paid DLC split into sets...that just aren't worth it unless you get them on HUGE sales. Every character combo tho has unique and fun things that make the game engaging. After all the patches and DLC to 3, Moze is so far ahead of the other characters in terms of general playablitly; they have tons of health, their mech scales to the difficulty, and it just takes a single shield or weapon change to focus on groups or bosses. They can trivialize the game depending on who you're playing with and that makes things boring by the end, trust me lol. WL is the better playthrough but BL3 has way more to do after you beat the game.

Started BL4 with my group, and while we're having fun so far, I'm reminded of my problem with looter shooters: when your loot grows stale, everything is a bullet sponge. Shotguns and snipers feel like trash, and the player is paper-thin. Like Outriders, prior Borderlands games, and even Destiny to some extent, the game awkwardly tumbles through feeling great to play, and feeling like a slog, dependent entirely on whether or not you get decent drops.
We're not 10 hours in yet, of course, so that cycle moves along fast enough.

@betterthanvegas yeah that’s been my experience so far. Typically I don’t like the soldier classes on BL games - find them boring overall. My main is usually a siren, with second being the sniper / pet class like Zero or Flak.

Unfortunately they repeated a mistake with BL3 that they did in BL2…. and made one particular class/build stupid powerful. Salvador in BL2 is basically necessary to farm raid bosses though as they do ridiculous damage, and he’s the only one that can dual wield and tank through it using a grog nozzle and pimpernel or something like that. Every other class there needs to cheese the raid bosses or do something extremely specific.

Meanwhile on BL3 all classes can solo the raid bosses without much issue, bonus there, but Moze shines stupid bright with the mech suit. So I went with the pet cub build on her; much more fun for me there. There’s some Zane and Flak builds that can do ridiculous damage though.

WLs I haven’t made it far enough into, but I already like the spell system replacing grenades. So much more fun.

@Dm9982 The spells were super fun and added a lot of needed variety to playing through the game. My only issue was I wanted a few more whimsical spells, making an area of enemies bounce up or give them big heads, things like that. Summoning barrels, fish, or marshmallows and yeeting them at people is pretty funny tho. Plus the dual-classing really adds a lot and they balanced them pretty well. My client and I loved the story and even when one of your advisors goes full Murder Hobo, they explain why they do, and we felt 1000% more invested in them then we ever did the Calypso Twins. We loved the game and I hope you enjoy it too.

@betterthanvegas truthfully I hated the Calypso Twins. So cringe and just unlikable. Especially when compared to Handsome Jack - that is how you do a villain!

You said you hadn’t played any BL games before 3, I implore you play BL2. While it’s not as balanced mechanically - slag breaks the game more than it benefits it, becomes needed in UVHM and breaks a lot of builds because of it, and bee shield becomes nearly mandatory to do anything meaningful. Aside from those two issues, the rest of the game is a solid 9/10. Hilarious, wacky, and just stupid amounts of fun. Plus all the player characters are well designed - just not as well balanced as BL3 or WL. Like in BL3 the pets are very useful even in endgame, but in BL2 Gaiges Deathtrap bot is crap by UVHM.

Melee zero and melee krieg are ridiculously fun tho, as is Bore/Sniper zero or Elemental Bubble Maya (tho her phase lock sucks on bosses). Sal can steam roll everything; but is rather boring. Axton / Soldier is probably the weakest of the bunch, but his turrets are at least fun, if not useless by UVHM.

All that said, great fun, def should play. And the dlc Assault on Dragons Keep is the precursor to Wonderlands. Turns grenades into DnD type spells like Chain Lightning and Magic Missile.

What a pile of garbage did I just read. Only Nintendo makes fun games, hell…I must be bored as hell having 30h in Silksong at 240fps on my PC…or with Cronos at settings your new system will deliver 30fps ish 1080p.

No dude, there’s plenty of fun, gameplay centric games on PC, infinitely more than on NS1 and 2. You’re just unable to do some research I guess.

Never will I understand this mentality. So hard to keep a good gaming PC with a Nintendo console?

@Denoloco I never said there weren't good games on PC, I said they're hardly making them anymore. I got bored of replaying the same stuff and I find most modern games to be pretty bad minus graphics which really mean little at the end of the day. Additionally there are games and genres you can only really get on Nintendo as I said earlier. And absolutely only Nintendo are making 1st party true system selling titles anymore. For me, the cost of a PC just isn't worth it anymore. I find it curious that you've seen others mirror my perspective.

@Telcontyr yeah I agree I am a Nintendo person and I think they do have consistency with there games which more of them are good than bad except once in a while. I do have a PC but I usually like to play older games on it that I find some nostalgia to or something I’m looking for in a sale. I play some PlayStation but usually just stick to Nintendo.

@Dm9982 I have played the first 3 games as well its just...1 was a rental that got overshadowed by something else, 2, I could only play with my younger brother so we only beat the game and that was about it. We liked the Pre-Sequel but when we bought it the new systems came out and we switched to PS4s then. I might have to dig up my old 360 and see if we can get together to finish it. I tried 1 recently but its just too slow by the other games' comparisons now. It feels like you're in molasses lol.

If my client and I don't get 4 we might try 2 so thanks for reminding me. I think I have to be Axton again so I get a taste of what it was like to play with me as Moze after the patch. But if Gaige is useless too then I can still be my mech person and feel like I'm just baggage cause I felt terrible how brutal Moze's suit became after the scaling patch. We were on level 4 bonus difficulty (VHM?) at the same pace pushing when they patched the suit to scale and maybe adjusted it's aim assist. Next thing we know I'm using the Terminator to erase everything that walks in front of us. My client was Amara and just started climbing in my turret to feel productive. It was funny, but terrible.

@Divide_and_Wander No issues my end stable 50fps, but I'm not using Windows and that's the key as I'm seeing substantial performance improvements using Linux.

@Audiogore0733 First system I ever played was NES (well, admittedly some Atari too, God I'm old), and the SNES is still my favourite ever console. Nintendo will always be special to me. I'm currently playing BOTW again, as I only ever did one run of it many years ago and I'm having more fun than on any PC or console game I played the past 5 years, and I'm super excited for Metroid Prime 4 like I've not been excited for a release in years.

@betterthanvegas Yeah playthrough 2 with all the dlc, the switch version has it all minus the commander Lilith dlc (which links BL2 and 3 events, supposedly is really good and has some great gear to boot)

Axton is by far the weakest. Gaige can rock an Anarchy build with ricocheting bullets to mass slaughter everything, or my personal fave is Electric Anarchy Gaige - does require some weapons tho to work, ThunderBall Fists, Electric version of Hail Storm, and I think I used a Fibber as my primary weapon. Everything else is optional tho basically. You’ll need her skills that pump electric dmg and combos shock into burns, plus a portion of her anarchy tree. Just enough to get 100-150 stacks of anarchy (kills accuracy but massively boosts dmg)…. Everything around you will melt. Doesn’t work well with raid bosses however. Only her anarchy build can do that, and that requires pre-stacking anarchy before entering boss arena.

For raid bosses solo you need Sal or Zero depending on the boss. A couple can be done with Maya using her bullet reflection. Raid bosses in 2 are not well balanced unfortunately. Nowhere near as good as raid bosses in 3

@Divide_and_Wander I've had both Rog Ally machines and since I move the X to Bazzite the performance in games and battery is significant. I'm a Linux guy anyway so I'm used to finding work arounds as regards Windows apps. Any questions I'm here.

Gamers are the most vocal lemmings ever. They’ll lodge all sorts of complaints while still following each other right over the cliff.

The optimization of this game is poorly done. I can't even get my mid-tier gaming rig to play it properly (Ryzen 7 9800x3D & RTX 4070 Super). All of these praises for the game just reek of paid sponsorships and propaganda.

I doubt this game will run properly on the Switch 2. It'll probably play at under 30 fps.

Expect a 30fps cap on the Switch 2 port for B4. Series S also has lower resolution, cutback graphics, and a 30fps cap, but is playable. If you want the 60fps experience, you will need to grab this on PC, Series X, or PS5.

@Telcontyr This just sounds like hardcore console elitism to me. I like Nintendo and vs Xbox and PlayStation, Nintendo is clearly winning...well Switch 1 that is. Switch 2 has only really released two games thus far and Mario Kart World while fun was hardly revolutionary.

PC does have "exclusives" too with games that are only on PC including games like Sons of the Forest and while you and @Telcontyr mention poor optimisation of some games, that's true of Nintendo too with most third party titles running poorly. We're already seeing that again with upcoming Switch 2 ports such as Resident Evil Requiem.

The truth is every platform has problems but to pretend there's a lack of good third party games is crazy. There's no Silent Hill 2 Remake on Switch 2, no Silent Hill f, no games from the Nioh franchise (which are amongst the best action RPGs out there with a unique combat system), no Dying Light The Beast, no Ninja Gaiden 4, no Crimson Desert, no Black Myth Wukong, no Ghostwire Tokyo, no Hi-Fi Rush, no Expedition 33 and well the list goes on of a whole trove of released and upcoming unique third party games that are missing from Switch 1&2.

If third party didn't matter either, Nintendo only fans wouldn't be getting excited over 10 year old ports of games which run at 30 FPS on Switch and still have frame drops. And games like Hogwarts Legacy wouldn't have sold as much as it did on Switch despite being so poorly optimised for Switch.

Katana Kami a Way of the Samurai Story is an example of a unique third party title and on Switch it often drops below 30 fps. Streets of Rage 4 too. Shinobi as well. Playing them on PC is just the better experience.

And I have no chance of playing the entire Way of the Samurai or Deus Ex series on any console including PlayStation. Only PC allows that. That's another place PC wins due to the large library and emulation.

If you're only sticking with recent first party Nintendo Switch 2 titles, you're going to have a very barebone 7 months ahead considering the only other title releasing this year exclusively for Switch 2 is a Dynasty Warriors game with a Zelda reskin. Fun sure but Dynasty Warriors Origins came out earlier this year for PC, ran well and did something far more revolutionary for the musou genre it created. We already know the Switch 2 port won't be handling 60 fps...meanwhile Age of Imprisonment just looks like Age of Calamity without the musou game evolution we saw in Origins.

And let's not talk Pokemon as that's the definition of slop and already looks like it runs bad.

So for this year alone, Nintendo has only released one unique game and that was Bananza...which isn't without its criticism now that the dust has settled. It's been a very bad launch release for Switch 2, that's the truth.

@Audiogore0733 me too, I'm a little concerned since the direct tbh but hoping it exceeds expectations. I'm not sure on the open world element after thinking about it, and I was a little disappointed with the graphics. I wish it was a Switch 2 exclusive.
