At this point I'm mostly just annoyed that a lot of this stuff wasn't communicated in the Direct. Seems to be a bit of a pattern lately where they omit the more technical specifics that are the things that go some way to justifying things

@Matt_Barber
All Wii games were anamorphic if they were widescreen. But what matters here is that they had a native support for that aspect ratio. Which means they were tested for it and are unlikely to do odd things in emulation when you force that aspect ratio. Point is, the 16:9 aspect ratio isn't a huge benefit here

Some comparisons with the Wii version for Galaxy 2. In some of these shots, you can see different patterns, which indicates to me it's not AI upscaling.

That 2nd to last comparison with Red Yoshi, he couldn't replicate the camera angle which suggests we're getting more complete camera control thanks to the right analog. Which makes sense. I expected as much.

Me too. I have the Galaxy 1 & 2 tins for Wii/ Wiiu. I also have 3d allstars & i've still pre-ordered the cosmic bundle from Nintendo UK with other freebies.

@GiooiG nice. I got it from shopto with microfibres cloth as a pre order bonus. I wanna see if currys do anything new or very. I want those steel posters too. So might need to cancel shopto and go with my Nintendo store but I still find the price dear.

Edit. Got the cosmic bundle from my Nintendo store.

Dang that's nice. I didn't even know steel cases existed for those games. But I wasn't into gaming in the Wii era aside from having a modded Wii for Wii Sports and Metroid Prime 3 and DKC Returns and Zelda Twilight Princess (I bought them all but dumped the discs).

Aside from the tins though I have everything in your pic. Physical versions on Wii, digital versions on Wii U, 3D All Stars on NSW1 and the Mario/Luigi Wiimotes. In fact I have a gold Zelda Wiimote, gold classic controller, gold nunchuk and gold steering wheel. Wiimote came with Skyward Sword, Classic Controller came with Goldeneye (I think?), the Wheel came from Nintendo Rewards store (can't remember the name but you know you'd spend points for physical merch), and the Nunchuk from the Japanese Nintendo Rewards store (bought off eBay). Useless tat really but interesting looking back on the fact I still own some of this random stuff. And it displays nicely. Had to dig those Mario/Luigi Wiimotes out of the closet though

I had a thing for steelbooks for years. Got the Skyward Sword Wii one, NSMBU Wii U one, sold the Batman Arkham City Wii U one with half my Switch games though. A few 3DS ones like FE Fates, NSMBU and Pokémon Sun/Moon...

But I have about 40-50 NSW Steelbooks. Some imported from Korea, France, UK, Canada, most from the US though. Glow in the dark Luigi's Mansion 3, Splatoon 3, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Smash, 2 different Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle ones, 2 different FE Three Houses ones, FE Engage, 2 different Xenoblade ones, Xenoblade 2 and 3, 2 different MH Rise ones, MH Rise Sunbreak, Mario Maker, Persona 5 and SMTV, SMTV Vengeance, Bayonetta 1/2, Bayonetta 3, Octopath Traveler 2, Tactics Ogre, FF7 Crisis Core, Mario 3D World, ALL the Pokémon games with both versions and a double sided gold case... and so much more.

I wanna play Mario Galaxy now. And dont wanna wait for the new releases. Dang it! I may just fire 3D All Stars back up.

@JaxonH nice. I also have most of the steel books and gold Wii mote from skywards sword. Gonna start putting most stuff in boxes to put away, running out of space. I feel it’s time for my Wii u to retire after this bundle. Would love Windwaker HD and twilight princess HD to come for Zelda’s anniversary.

Ya I got a Genki plug outlet dock and don't need it for Switch so Im keeping the USB-C cable at the ready if I wanna dock the SteamDeck. It's not seamless like NSW1/NSW2 as you just grab the USB-C cable laying on the ground and plug it in but, it does work. Its nice that I can easily pair my Dualsense to my modded NSW OLED or Steamdeck OLED via bluetooth. Helps lower the TV play barrier. I have a gaming PC but it's super loud and Idk, I just like one device that docked for TV and unlocks for handheld.

I 100% hear you talking about running out of space. With owning every amiibo made to date (yes even the rare JP releases like Quby that cost $300-400 loose, I had to get a box for the Animal Crossing ones, some duplicate Splatoon ones aside from different colors, and Mario ones.

The 4 Zelda at $30 and 3 Street Fighter amiibo at $40 broke me. And you know how stupid I am? I forgot I bought the SF amiibo and have them displayed. I just ordered the three of them all over again (from ebay to get them cheaper than retail so, no returns, AND I learned they were on sale for $20/ea at Amazon!) Talk about a punch in the gut. But whatever. I'll keep em sealed in the closet along with the extra sealed set of original Smash Bros amiibo and Fire Emblem amiibo and Monster Hunter amiibo.

But then I see 2 new Galaxy amiibo, so beautiful... for $40 each! And I see 2 Kirby Air Riders amiibo that swap places... for $50 each! And I see 3 Metroid Prime 4 amiibo which you guessed it, are $40 each. Far be it from me to complain about prices, even when I cant afford something. But realizing Id need to spend $300 I dont really have was a left hook to the jaw right after that sucker punch.

But, the Galaxy amiibo are much larger and nicely detailed, the Kirby amiibo do interchange bases which is a new feature we haven't seen before, and the Metroid amiibo are, well... Metroid Prime 4. So those are non-negotiable regardless. Will go nicely next to the Samus Returns and Dread amiibo. Always 1 Samus and 1 enemy. SR had the Metroid, Dread had the E.M.M.I. and Prime 4 has Sylux. We're just getting a bonus amiibo on the bike cause it's so awesome.

Are we really gonna have all the Mario games on one hybrid handheld platform after the Galaxy 1/2 pack drops? It'll certainly have all the mainline Donkey Kong games (the 5 DKC entries + DK64 + DK Bonanza). I dont count all that Jungle Beat Barrel Blast nonsense. It will have all the Xenoblade games. It'll have 7 Fire Emblem games + 3 spinoffs (FE1 on NES, FE7 and FE8 on GBA, FE9 on GameCube, FE16 and FE17 on NSW1 and FE18 on NSW2. We need those DS and 3DS entries to get remakes or remasters or something. Hope after Fortune's Weave they remake Awakening. Or remake Shadow Dragon on DS and Hero of Light on DS as one cohesive package.

As much as Id like Windwaker and Twilight Princess Im not convinced we'll see them this generation. We may see one of them, but I feel like with Windwaker on GC NSO already, they'll probably just add Twilight Princess to GC NSO at some point also and that'll be that. Maybe I'm wrong, I just think both games got so much exposure in generations past they'd prefer to put on ice for a bit (sure, toss a bone with NSO+ releases) and come back with full remakes or remasters down the line. But what do I know. I'm just a random nobody.

Ya the games look great.

And thank God they're coming to Switch 1/2 cause I cant stomach the Wii versions in 480p nor can I stand using the Wiimote with no right analog, which is essentially required on Dolphin since these games rely on the pointer while simultaneously moving and controlling the camera and jumping. Not to mention neither option provides the hybrid advantage, and I dont waste my time with stuff I can only play in front of one specific tv.

The joycon actually allow you to move with left analog, control camera with right analog and control the cursor with gyro. And the gyro on NSW2 joycon is so much more accurate. I know cause I fired up Galaxy on 3D All Stars a few days ago and was shocked at how stable the gyro was with minimal drift.

They really cleaned these games up nicely. And with the art style being used they almost look like modern releases. Not quite, but close enough.

Ive never played Galaxy 2 at all, and only a tiny bit of Galaxy. Its funny- I started playing Galaxy like a day before this was announced. But now I'll just wait for these new remasters. I hear they're 2 of the best games ever made.

I seem to remember playing it emulated with a joystick so I think there is a patch to eliminate use of motion controls if you want that plus of course the emulated game has upgraded textures option and can play at 4K 60fps. It's probably the best way to experience the game as long as you have the original games of course. Looking at the images shown on this thread they represent the middle ground between original graphics and emulated on PC. However I have to say I enjoyed the game originally playing on a CRT with zero input latency. It was fluid and very enjoyable despite the lower resolution. It's amazing it was achieved on a console with only a 12 gflops GPU such is the incredible game design Nintendo are capable of. Beautiful graphics from such humble hardware.

I cant stand emulation nowadays tbh. I have a PC with 2080 ti but i just don't have the patience to try to find all the texture files and where to download them and where to put them and how to map everything out in dolphin correctly... i spent three straight days getting Primehack working with gyro on Steamdeck, then when I installed the all in one emulator thing it messed it up. Was never able to fix it. I had trouble mapping Metroid Other M and Galaxy and ya... I'm sure these things are technically possible to do, but I am beyond the age where I have patience to deal with it. And frankly, being tethered to a TV ruins it for me anyways. I have used the right analog for motion before in Other M and I absolutely hated it.

For the few people out there that like that emulation stuff knock yourselves out. But it's definitely not for me. My time is limited these days and I like plug and play. Plus these games look insanely good judging by screenshots. I really don't feel the need for extra textures and stuff. If they were the 480p Wii versions i might feel like I was missing out, but as good as they look, I really don't.

edit
Another thing too is these games seem to allow full camera control with the analog, so mapping it for the pointer would take away even the limited control the originals did have.

Sat down for a bit to try and figure out which games I'm going to pick up over the next few months and I realised something. I would be 100% picking up this bundle, without any question, if it was part of the NSO voucher program. But the fact that it isn't puts it in an odd position

Here's my thinking. Of all the games coming out soon? Prime 4 is the obvious must have title. I have three options to buy it, retail it's $100AU for the Switch 2 Edition while on the eShop it's $110 and my third option is NSO voucher + upgrade pack which would be $155AU ($135 + $20 for the S2 upgrade) plus I could pick up a second voucher game. The voucher is by far the best way to go here

The problem is.... I would kinda want something that's Switch 2 enhanced, most of the really killer titles in the list I already have and I have little interest in Legends Z-A. New SMB U is a decent Switch 2 upgraded option here but, you know, it's New SMB U. Pikmin 4 I never picked up and would be a good pick, possibly Bayonetta Origins seems like the best option here. But both of these are not Switch 2 enhanced and I could probably find better deals. A very quick google and I can see Bayonetta Origins has gone for $19 in sales even just a couple of months ago

But if the Galaxy bundle was on here? That'd be an easy choice. I know the voucher program is going away, and it really sucks that it does, but it's a bit rough that Galaxy isn't on it. I think I'm skipping it, maybe I grab it later if it goes on sale. I think my end of year purchases are Prime 4, Air Riders, Mina the Hollower.... and then questioning what I use the voucher for or if I just buy the physical copy instead

I was also disappointed the Galaxy Bundle doesn't work with the voucher program. For people (like me...) who bought vouchers before we knew they were going away, Nintendo really hasn't given us many options. I'm not totally sure I want Pokemon Z-A but I'll buy it because I essentially don't have other options. I suppose Nintendo still wins since I will likely buy Galaxy 2 separately, but it would have been much nicer if they had a bunch of new voucherable games before the program vanished. I assume Nintendo didn't add vouchers to the digital Galaxy bundle because it's a bundle of 2 seperate files rather than one game, but it feels like a bit of a lost opportunity.

I did the vouchers for Meteoid Prime 4 and Pokémon Legends Z-A but Id go for Pikmin 4. That game is pristine.

Grumblevolcano

@FishyS They didn't add Pikmin 1+2 to the voucher program either meanwhile collections that were 1 file (Advance Wars 1+2, 3D All Stars) did get added which supports your theory. I don't know whether the Famicom Detective Club remakes are 1 or 2 files though, it's one of the few 1st party Switch 1 games I don't have because I thought they would've done a physical version eventually.

Grumblevolcano

Sylamp

@Grumblevolcano Famicom Detective Club remakes are 2 files but they're listed as one game on the eShop and not a bundle, since there is no option to buy them separately

As somebody who has played the heck out of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 on the Wii, and has also played the first one on 3D All-Stars, I'm not sure if I want this... at least for its asking price. I don't think I want to spend $70 towards the whole set physically, or even $40 towards Galaxy 2 on its own. If I catch it on sale though, I might consider it. Love those games and I would like to see the added chapter and the new storybook, but those prices are a little too high. I would love to get the physical copy of Rosalina's storybook, though.
