I checked to see if these games had a forum thread and I couldn't find any except random older ones that were about different aspects of the games (many of which are locked off). So, since these games are getting rereleased on the Switch 1 / 2, I created this thread so we can chat about the games like any usual thread for a specific game, and talk about any news surrounding the title. I myself am really excited for this since I've never played either of these games before (though I did watch all of 3D All-Stars Galaxy 1 on YouTube a few years back). I might get it at some point if I have a gap in my gaming schedule sometime.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Pokémon Violet
2: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
3: Pokémon Shield
4: Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope
5: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
I'm kinda on the same fence too. Part of me wants to but this and part of me doesn't since I've played only the first Galaxy and missed out on Galaxy 2. You'd think I would've played it by now...but I don't have a Wii or WiiU...
Plus...the price is...uh...kinda hard to swallow down honestly. i assuming they mentioned some QoL changes to Galaxy 2, I trust? Guess I can just google it, of course...

Never played Galaxy 2 and not played Galaxy for over 15 years, don’t have the Mario 3D all stars so despite the unfortunate price I’ll be picking up the dual pack physical

These are $90AU for the double pack and $60AU each. Which is not far from what I paid for them at launch back in the day. These should really be closer to $30AU each at most. Hard pass from me
edit: it seems they have Switch 2 upgrades according to the store page. Still too expensive but still, worth noting
I've still got a wii and wii u and have these games so don't need this. I never find re-buying old games on new consoles justified and the pricing here makes it seem a ridiculous option. Both are amazing fantastic games though that if you haven't played before and are fresh experiences then I can see some merit although very easy to emulate nowadays. Here in the UK the CEX store sells the original games at 10 and 15 pounds so 25 in total. So you could purchase them and then legally emulate the games on a platform of your choice. They would have resell value too or be more collectable being the original versions of the game.
Mario Galaxy was on another Switch cartridge with Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine. Super Mario 3D All Stars but its quite a rare cartridge and CEX sell that for 68 pounds.
Also we haven't seen the analysis of how these games run. The gamecube emulation on Nintendo Online titles is not amazing. There is quite a lot of input lag and other issues and the Gamecube was only about 2/3rds of the power of the wii in cpu and gpu terms. I think the Gamecube has a 8 gflop GPU and the wii 12 gflops (same gpu just upclocked). The Gamecube CPU was 485Mhz and the wii 720Mhz or something like that. So its a little more difficult to emulate especially as the wii also has an additional 64MB of memory. Hopefully as standalone titles these will be much better optimised that the online bonus titles but you never know. I'm still expecting higher input lag over the original games.
My point is the Switch 1 or 2 are not necessarily the best ways of experiencing these games. I also realise the Switch 2 struggled with Gamecube emulation but this of course is also Switch 1 compatible that has about a third of the CPU power of the Switch 2. Maybe Switch 1 will struggle at times even if Switch 2 doesnt.
I never played the Galaxy games. I JUST fired up Galaxy 1 in All Stars 2 days ago though. I'm all over these new remastered releases.

Why do people only choose to complain about Mario remasters? Let's compare it to other Wii remasters:
Galaxy 1 + 2 (adds up to $35 each)
Skyward Sword $60
Donkey Kong Country Returns $60
So why is everyone choosing now to complain? Sure, I still think it's expensive, but we've had much worse. This is on the better side of pricing, sadly.
@1UP_MARIO I got Pikmin 2 for $9.99 on my Wii U, so I was surprised to see that it was $30 on Switch, I still think Pikmin 1+2 and Galaxy 1+2 are way too expensive, but they're not the worst deals Nintendo has given.
@PikminMarioKirby Pikmin bundle was actually a good deal here in the uk. You can still find this on the eshop for £39.99. Mario Galaxy bundle is £58.99 on eshop, nearly £20 more. Both Nintendo switch 1 games.
Edit
They can get away with it because it’s a bigger franchise. Mario sells.
Metroid prime remastered was an impressive port more so then Pikmins, Mario Galaxy’s and Kirby’s return to dream land yet it’s super cheap.
As long as these games don't have any content locked behind updates except the Switch 2 4K stuff (which shouldn't happen since these games are almost two decades old and feature complete), I'll be getting these physically 😃.
My top 5 favorite games:

@PikminMarioKirby I don’t think “the worst deals Nintendo has given” is the standard where people are allowed to voice their displeasure on the prices.
@sixrings I never said that, I myself think it's too expensive, but I just don't know why people only voice their dislike when it's Mario. Why weren't most of these people complaining about much worse cases like the ones I already mentioned, Luigi's Mansion 2 HD, Metroid Prime Remastered, Another Code, New Super Mario Bros Deluxe, Tropical Freeze, Pokken Tournament and the others?
I actually do want to be really annoyed by this and Nintendo shouldn't get away with it. But if you asked me if this collection is worth 10 dollars more than Mario Odyssey, taking away the massive less amount of money Nintendo spent to make this collection, in every other way my answer is obviously "yes". These are two of the best video games of all time, they held up graphically against the power of the 360 and Ps3 at the time, they're about as perfect as 3D platformers and video games get.
