Fairly solid, really looking forward to Persona 4/5 (just played 3) and Nier.

Y'know, that 'mini' was actually pretty mega! How lovely is Blanc?

A surprisingly great direct, although a shame about lots of leaks beforehand spoiling some of the bigger surprises such as Persona and Nier. I played persona 5 and Nier in 2017 when they came out (Nier especially is a masterpiece - my favourite game of all time) so I'm not going to double dip, but I'm glad other people get the chance to experience these games! I'm very interested in persona 4 though, and will definitely pick that up!

Overall though, I still am desperate for an update on Nintendo's 1st party titles, which hopefully we'll get soon!

Nier Automata is a must buy, Sonic looks a bit more promising from the footage shown and the black and white game with the animals looks amazing.
Persona 5 is a doozy too.

Imo amazing Direct when it comes to ports (Persona and Nier), very good when it comes to updates to already annoucned games (Live a Live, Portal, Mario + Rabbids 2, Sonic Frontiers etc) but lacking when it comes to completely new games

Really only persona and nier. Not much else for me. We already knew about rabbids or I'd say that as well.

It was good! Quite a bit of variety, I thought. I went in wanting an "Available Later Today" announcement for the Portal Collection and more info about Mario+Rabbids, and I got both of those things plus Pac-Man World! I'm very happy!

Outperformed the "Mini" label imo.

Really good mini. Persona coming to Switch alone wins it for me. Nier, Mega Man, Portal shadow drop and Pac man world are some nice surprises too.

Happy direct to everyone except the people who said a third party showcase was a waste of time.

Interesting to see free movement in rabbids. That was one of the bigger strategic complexities in the first game for me (as a good thing).

And where are those people that said that this Direct will be a waste time?

Well, yeah, a great Direct, Bomberman 2, Nier, that one about Railroads, it's very curious, and the Rune Factory from Square Enix, XD, great announcements!
I would like some more, but it's ok.
My only worries is about Test Drive Unlimited 3, since that sad news that ps4 and xboxone versions were cancelled..., I hope that Switch version still keep going.

Honestly, it's hard to choose only 3!

Nier Automata, the Personas, Harvestella, Dragon Quest Treasures, Monkey Island, and of course Mario & Rabbids 2 are all fantastic additions to the Switch. Looking forward to all of them!

@DiggleDog considering they’re going to show us Mario and rabbids tomorrow, and bomberman is 2023 I still don’t know what the point of today was.

meh might pick up portal collection as Ive never played any portal and 20 bucks is cheap, gyro controls seem like a nice touch but nothing else even remotely interested me...

Frankly imo this was one of the better Directs fullstop, let alone Minis or Partner showcases. But then, my tastes are perhaps not the mainstream.

I really didn't expect to see Persona after Atlus trolling like hell in recent weeks. I never played one before but I will likely give 5 a shot when it comes out. I only have a Switch lol

@SakuraHaruka guess I am one of the few that was underwhelmed by this. Went in with an open mind and I thought it was overall decent but for me personally I am really only looking forward to mega man battle network and even then they just said 2023 so not really sure when I can get that.

Great Direct, imo. Good mix of old and new.

Best mini Direct yet, if it were mixed in with first party stuff it would’ve easily been one of the best general Directs too. Nier, Persona and the Portal shadow drop were the highlights

It was fine I supppse. Some surprises in their though for different reasons. Automata is weird due to performance issues and the cloud rubbish with KH.

I feel like a lot of ports and remakes were holding this up, which is annoying. The new things were announced previously, but nice to have some dates e.g Dragon Quest Treasures. Harvestella looks interesting.

I guess that rumor of the Batman Arkham Collection coming in August looks to be just that, a rumor. This close to release if it was coming it would have been the perfect game to show at a direct.

Pac Man World remake! :3 : <3 I remember the game being so long and big.

It was alright. Plenty of games for plenty of folks and interests, but I really just wanted some new simple, classic Zelda and Mario stuff this year. I'm happy for everyone who loved it, but I think I'm personally just getting too old and bitter for all of this, which is sad. Interests and passions evolve, I guess.

Great direct, very solid. A lot of games that I'll be happy to play for the first time (persona and nier) and some new ones that look really good.
Hope one day we'll get the fabled Batman Arkham collection, it would be awesome.

Really didn't care about a lot of it, but I'm a pretty diehard first-party player, so that's not any criticism of the actual direct, just my preference.

@figureguy yeah, it's been a while since the rumours began, for a moment thought it could happen this year, guess not hehe.

1. Bought Portal immediatley.
2. Excited about the changes to the battle system for Sparks of Hope.
3. Sonic Frontiers is looking more promising.

As an rpg fan, the official announcements of Nier: Automata and the Persona games coming to Switch solidified this Direct as being "great" by default. Everything else shown was gravy.

Really glad there's going to be a demo for Live A Live. I'm interested in it but felt hesitant to buy it without trying it first.

This was great! To be fair, my expectations were quite low, but I'm very happy to see Nier, Persona, and MMBN finally coming to Switch. Sure, there was a decent number of "not for me" games, but that's true of any Direct; give me three games (five really, or thirteen, depending on how you count collections) to be really hyped for and you got a top tier Direct in my book.

As someone who owns a playstation as well then the persona and nier announcements didn't really excite me.

For me though dragon quest treasures and Harvestella were the highlights, especially the later which is rune factory but a million times better, square enix are on a roll this year especially with crisis core remake, diofield, valkyrie elysium, Forspoken and the new star ocean all due this year as well, don't get the credit they deserve

This was a pretty decent Nintendo Direct and probably the best Nintendo Direct Mini. Tons of great titles shown off.

Worst ever considering its E3 season and we've gotten garbage.

It's like every game as the years pass becomes more and more corpratized and it kind of just makes me sick and it's finally caught far up enough with nintendo. 🤢🤢🤢

Please can monkey island be as good as the first two games!

Lots of stuff for everyone. Off the top of my head, the railroad simulator looks likely to be a release-day purchase. Big fan of Dragon Quest, so that's a possibility. Played Portal 1 when it first came out, never did Portal 2, but might back-burner that.

Still torn whether to get a Steam Deck or not.

But now that it seems there will be no Batman Arkham collection for Switch, I'm leaning a bit more towards getting one (also the fact that I've already bought Asylum and Knight in Steam sales weighs in that direction too).

But I've postponed my Steam Deck pre-order until october earliest. I simply cancelled my pre-order and made a new right after (still not sure if I did the right thing - but you can say it's better to have something to play during the dark winter than summertime).

Also it will give Nintendo a "chance" to reveal new hardware that I might be interested in. I might buy a Steam Deck anyway though, because I don't have much faith in Nintendo really delivering on the 3rd party front.

It will probably be the likes of the 4 PS4/Xbox One generation Resident Evil games on "Switch 2" (if they can persuade Capcom to port them that is).

On the positive side I just bought Castlevania Anniversary Collection 80% off (4 euro) and I actually really like the 2 Gameboy Castlevanias (Ok, Adventure doesn't run that well - seems it never did - but it's still good) plus Bloodlines which is really good looking and plays nicely too.

I already own 1, 3 and IV on my 3DS but I never managed to like them much. I'm not a big NES fan, I actually think Gameboy games manage to look better in this day and age (they simply stand much more out IMO compared to NES games).

Very good direct. Plus this has been a heavy hitter year already. Lots and lots to play. Getting really worried about the backlog.

To be honest, this was a better showcase then I thought it would be. From surprises that I myself fancied like the paceman world, Megaman battle network collection, and sonic frontiers to stuff that while not up my ally are cool to have here like Nier, Mario and Rabbids 2, and Persona. Kind of feel like Partner Showcases have their place now. I'd almost go so far and say to this was as strong traditional e3 direct and even those aren't always top notch.

Something for everyone there.....apart from me.

I can see how many enjoyed it but it seemed like a mix of JRPGs, Strategy games and sims.

Not much for those who like shmups, fighting / racing games, 2d platformer, roguelikes, metroidvanias or generally action / arcade type games.

I might wait and see what the reviews are like for Little Noah.

Nothing really for me.

My favorite announcements were definitely Mario+Rabbids Sparks of Hope getting an October release date, Super Bomberman R 2, Nier Automata coming to Switch, and the Persona games finally coming to Switch.

I already played Nier automata, P4G, P3 and P5 years ago. Nintendo is a bit late on this but it still overdelivered fora mini

I was very dissapointed yesterday after the words 'Mini' and 'Partner' were mentioned, but it honestly was much better than expected.

Never played a Persona game before. I really loved SMTV last year, and loved playing it directly on hard mode, but I heard that Persona games, although having more heart and story, are much easier which I don't like. Still a possibility

I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. Pretty solid overall. Love that Portal shadow dropped and I picked it up. Persona 5 Royal is a big one. Only one "cloud version" game and it was one we knew from a while ago, so yay! Maybe we are done with these dreaded versions. Still would have liked to have heard something about Outer Wilds (is it still coming or is it dead?) and Batman: Arkham Collection, but I'll give it an 8.5 out of 10.

There were plenty of "maybe I'll get this some day" showings, nothing of the wow factor.

For me anyway. I know there's stuff in there others are really excited for and I'm glad for those people!

It was ok, wasn't much that really grabbed me. Sparks of Hope and Sonic are on my radar, and I might check out the demo for Live a Live. And I'll see how Pac-Man reviews and maybe check it out...

@AzzyC I get some of your grips, but I don't think Kirby was "underwhelming" at all. It was a great game. Not perfect by any means, but a solid game overall.

I'm beyond sick and tired of Warriors type games. I'd be perfectly fine if they went on a hiatus from releasing new ones for a while.

RPGs are fun, but so time consuming that I don't have the time for them. There are a ton of them on the Switch. Sometimes it seems to the determent of other genres.

I play a lot of third party and independent games on my Switch, so I guess I feel I have plenty to play.

All of the best announcements (at least for me) are just Switch releases of games which are already out elsewhere (Portal, Persona, Nier: Automata). It's amazing how much I and seemingly many others just really prefer Switch compared to other platforms. You just cannot beat the option to be play docked or handheld!

I’ve never played a battle network or persona game. Cant wait to dig in!

@theoryofeverywhere If developers put in the time and effort (like they did with DOOM 2016 and Witcher 3), I will reward them. Hybrid portability rocks when done properly.

@kingbk I don't think the kirby game was underwhelming, it just lacked a few things for me to get into it enough to beat it.

This wasn't just a fantastic Mini, it was a great Direct in general. I absolutely lost my mind when I realized I was seeing a Pac-Man World remaster, Battle Network has always intrigued me, this is the best look at Sonic Frontiers yet, Ellen McClain as GLaDOS was a nice touch, that notebook RPG looks so cute...And then there's Persona and NieR and Sparks of Hope. Seriously a strong presentation, even if I did skip some of the footage of stuff we've seen before.

Very Japan influenced Direct, which is not surprising, as Nintendo is a Japanese company and the Switch continues to dominate there. It just would have been nice to have a couple more Western style announcements, like Batman: Arkham Collection.

It was a pretty solid direct, I don't know why people had so low expectations, it was a darn 25-minutes-long direct. Overall, this "E3" was pretty disappointing, I would rank the e3 conferences of this year:

Microsoft>Nintendo>Capcom>>>Devolver>Sony

I think it's time for the e3 to finally die.

Mario + Rabbids, Pac-Man World, and Persona we’re the biggies for me. I’m also keeping an eye on Harvestella as it looked pretty interesting.

It was just ok. Only like 6 games that caught my attention. Don't care for the ports or the rabbits game, and God forbid we can't even get another Bomberman adventure game. How hard is that konami!?.

Persona 4 golden is great played it to death on vita can’t wait to get it on switch also monkey island was a favourite back in the Amiga days can’t wait to see how it turns out

Was looking for a Plague Tale in the poll to do my patented insane logic vote, but I suppose is not included because it was not a new announcement.

Anyway, fantastic direct.

I know it's super niche but I am really excited for RAILGRADE!!

Very good direct, most people were worried that it was just a mini and would only cover 3rd party games, but I thought that this was going to be inevitable looking how Nintendo already has their line ups paved out for this year.

I'm willing to bet even if this was just a general direct most of the focus would still be from 3rd parties.

That said my favorite showings were the amazing Sunbreak trailer, the Rabbids sequel looks great and finally I'm glad my prediction of Dragon Quest Treasures news turned out to come true. The game looks really interesting and I like the concept Square is going for with this spinoff. It seems to be play like a more refined Pokemon Legends Arceus with the big emphasis on the open world and real time combat. The icing on the cake would've been a release date or trailer for the DQ3 remake but oh well.

Honorable mentions go to the Live a Live trailer with the announcement of the demo which I'll play later today and the Persona games announcement, if you were to predict that beforehand I would've called you crazy cause Atlus didn't seem to be capable of listening to any form of feedback but they finally gave us what Switch owners have been asking for literal years.

I think I would rate this mini an 8/10 - even better than some General ones.

Persona 5 Royal, Blanc and the Mega Man Battle Network Collection stood out for me the most.

Overall I thought the direct was pretty good. Honestly I'd probably have had a more neutral opinion if it wasn't for the Persona 5 Royal announcement though.

@kingbk Agreed, although the two examples you used, while impressive they even made it to the Switch, do seem like very significant visual downgrades. I am most excited about the games which can be ported to Switch with minimal compromise.

I'm not sure how i feel about them removing the grid based gameplay from Mario+rabids, but I'll wait to see how everyone likes ot before i complain too much. In the age of final fantasy 7 remake, where they "fix" things that aren't broken, i have to be careful not to financially support games who remove turn based gameplay (many of us made the mistake of buying FF7R day 1, & didn't bother to play it, cuz they removed turn based battles, but those sales still count towards it's success). Hopefully, it functions the same here, & they did it for gameplay reasons, & not just to appeal to a broader audience.

I'm not a fan of pac man as a character or franchise, but if that remake was done correctly, i can see myself liking it.

Blanc looks really cool, I've never heard of it before, & will definitely keep an eye on it, now.

Overall, this was a great mini direct from the perspective of someone not immediately looking for new games to play (i have a huge backlog already, & game pass, so no rush). It put lots of games on my radar, some unexpectedly, so that's always good. I wasn't expecting anything out of it, so it didn't disappoint me (which can ruin a direct, if u want something that didn't get shown). I'm REALLY glad Live Alive got a demo, tho. Was planning to buy that game anyway, eventually, but still wasn't sure i would like it. I love turn based JRPGs, usually, so it seems right up my alley, but u never know w some games (especially since I don't care for "retro" games, pixel art, etc). Now, i get to try & decide myself. Great job, Ninty (IMO, ofc!!

I'm very happy about Nier and Portal and will surely try at least one of the Persona games but the game that stood out the most to me was Harvestella. It looks very nice and polished.

@TheBigK definitely worth it if u like turn based JRPGs, IMO. Not much else like them that I've played, but they all have a unique charm. They're very long games, tho, so be aware of that (it can be a positive or negative to different types of players). I didn't like the story of persona 5 (vanilla, i didn't play through royal. Way too long a game to replay for the extras added, IMO) as well as i did persona 4, so if u don't end up liking p5r's story, u should give p4g a chance when it releases.

Solid Direct. Incredible if you're a Nintendo-only person, I imagine. As a PS4 owner who has already played P5R, NieR Automata, etc., there wasn't a ton of new stuff to sink my teeth into, but it was a really well-balanced Partner Direct. Not my favorite one (that honor goes to the one that revealed Nocturne HD and showed us new footage of SMT V for the first time in years), but still high up there.

Just as expected, Persona stole the show and I love it. Also, Nier Automata and Blanc, baby

Got exactly what I expected which was nothing I care about 🤷‍♂️

My favorite announcement was the Silksong release date. Ok, really...I am stoked to finally get Portal 1 and 2 on the go!

My personal takeaways:
Nier I’ve tried before and really couldn’t get into it despite basically checking all my boxes for a fun game. I’ll likely give it another go, how could I not?!;
Lorelei looks like it takes a few pages out of the old tank control era but with a fresh new style with a smart use of color.
Blanc looks incredible and I’m certainly getting this;
Mega Man Battle Network is a surprise to me but it’s equally infuriating that’s it’s split up into 2 volumes again. And it’s even worse if buying physical, it has one half as download only. Yuck;
Mario and Rabbids looks insanely fun and good. I have yet to play the first one but I know I’d like it. I think I’m sold on this series now;
RPG Time looks insane. I love the style of it and really struck some nerves with me. I used to draw games in notebooks as a kid so this is like… a dream come true. Looks a little “kiddie” but also fun as hell so I’ll probably just swallow my pride and get it;
Sonic Frontiers gameplay looks way better than the first reveal(s) but it also looks very rough on Switch. I might go with one of the other platforms for this one. I’ll wait to see some reviews first to see just how much of a hit it takes being on Switch;
Live A Live is looking great. Getting the demo now!
And last: Portal! I cannot wait to go through this story again. I loved it the first time I played it and that was years ago. It’s fresh again now.

@SakuraHaruka they aren't going to cancel the PS4 & Xbox one versions because they apparently can't run the game but then release it on inferior tech that would make absolutely no sense

As a Dragon's Dogma and Mega Man fan my faith in Capcom has been fully restored.

Way better than I thought. Portal collection was a good one, really cheap too. £14 for the two of them. I was willing to pay up to around £25 for the collection so that awesome.
Nier is a great one, in my top 10 games of last gen easily. Not sure if i’ll pick it up on switch as I already own it but maybe once it’s on sale and runs well.
I think you can all thank me for the persona 5 royal announcement. All these years I told myself I’m not buying royal on PlayStation because I already got 5 and it’s too expensive for what it is. I’ll wait until it goes to switch, won’t feel too bad buying the whole game then. So for years I waited and eventually I just figured it wasn’t coming so I bought it recently on sale. It has since been announced for switch and game pass so Ye… I jinxed it.

Pretty solid stuff. Something for everyone again. It did the job it was suppose to do.

@NeonPizza I must agree with you about Super Bomberman R. I was think with myself, how a company have one of the most lovely and playable game of the world and don't make a decent version to the actual times. In times of, battle, party royals and free to play, a simple version of this would sell a lot. Can you imagine a version of Super Bomberman with many players in a stage where only one would be the winner? I really want this.

Really good range of stuff I thought. Monkey Island a personal highlight and will defo play Portal as I was always interested in that from the buzz around it. Really glad for Persona fans too.

Plenty in there that deserved the spotlight but would have been swamped in a big direct with 1st party stuff - especially if they’re planning to show Zelda or something else big.

The way things are now with a big summer show just not being a thing any more - it’s just not worth chucking everything out in one big splurge. This way they can do a 1st party direct in a few weeks - a month and it’ll share out the glory and get way more attention for the Switch as a system. No one gives a s*~t about ‘winning’ E3 anymore - do they? (Nintendon’t)

I was hoping for a release date for Advanced Wars for the switch. I'm still patiently waiting. ♡

I'm glad to be proven wrong. This direct was great! We still need a general direct to get info on stuff like BOTW 2, Bayonetta, Metroid, Kirby 30th anniversary collection, Advanced Wars, and more but this and Xenoblade will tide me over until the fall/September.

Just showing me more now than ever, that this is another kids console. I was excited in the earlier years, but now, there's literally nothing I'm interested in any of these directs. Glad I finally got a Steam Deck to play now instead I guess.

Nier Automata looks good but it is often $19.99 on PS4. I can't justify paying $60 for it on Switch.

Pleasantly surprised with this direct. Really interested in Nier, Persona 3,4,5 and Harvestella. Monkey Island a must buy as well, but probably on PC.

I'm a little disappointed that we won't be getting Genshin Impact yet, but Nier: Automata is a welcome surprise. I have yet to play the original.

This summer so far, I have not been impressed with the showings. It has given me more reason to say that I identIfy more with Nintendo than another. This direct, for me, was not any better than the rest I seen. I found more games here that are interesting, but seems like the others. A whole lot of sequels, ports and remakes. Just feeIng unoriginal.

Very underwhelming. Almost zero interest in anything. Rabbids and Bomberman R 2 were the only ones I checked in the poll. Hoping for a proper Nintendo one soon!

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope !!!!!!!!

Although I thought there was lots for people to enjoy, for me I only really liked the train game. Far too much of the animie styled games for me personally, and not just in this direct.

I am looking forward to playing Sonic Frontiers, Pac Man World Re-Pac, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Doraemon Story of Seasons: Friends of the Great Kingdom the most but I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed we didn't some news about the new 3D Yooka Laylee game and hope we get an update about that soon.

I enjoyed the mini direct, I watched it on my lunch break and have a few more games to look forward to playing, namely Super Bomberman R 2 and Pac-Man World.

I went with very low expectations but it was really good direct the biggest highlight is Persona games I do wish Batman arkham games was there.
