Pretty sure the abysmal comments are from people who don‘t have or never played the game…

I just really couldn't get on the with the controls. I think I would do better if I could play on a desk but my legs or chair arms just aren't quite right for me.

Scored a 7 because it’s quite fun and it was nice to see my daughter exert herself.
The game itself is pretty solid, and it has unlimited potential for QOL and gameplay improvements. It will sadly be a case of whether or not Nintendo will support and update which I think is very unlikely.

I think this poll was a bad idea. No way all those the abysmal voters have bought and played the full game. They’re salty for whatever reason and taking out on this game. An abysmal attitude. And for the record I decided to wait and see with this game and so didn’t vote.

@JohnnyMind This is a total aside but if I don’t ask now I’ll forget. I’ve seen you mention your “usual retailer” and I was just wondering who the retailer was (if you don’t mind sharing). My wife and I recently re-connected with some pals who now live in Italy (Rome), and I keep wondering if you guys shop at the same place. Ha. They’re in town here (USA) for a little bit, so I’ll have to ask where he goes.

Who the heck is giving this a 1? That score is reserved for nigh unplayable games. Slop like Road to Hell: Retribution. Even Sonic Boom on Wii U doesn't deserve a full on 1.

It doesn’t look good but after playing it all weekend, I am having a ton of fun with his game! And if you pick up some joy con 2 mouse adaptors, worries about wrist aches vanish - I can highly recommend checking out Amazon - game changers.

Move the motion controls and with some more content added, this really could be worth an 8, but I’m sticking with a 7.

Looks not good - plays really well and great fun and isn’t that what gaming is about after all?

Played the global demo. It’s ok. Couldn’t get use to the controls. I’m glad I got to try it.

@Johnny44 i played it and would score it low. Purley on control scheme found it so uncomfortable it was hurting my wrists. also some gaming company needs to make new attachment for joycons with better glide pads as the ones in the box even on a mouse pad are rubbish.

I have tried it. For me, its just a waste of time. Wish Nintendo had used their resources on something Else than this, just a waste and a stain on their perfect white shirt.

Okay, while Drag X Drive definitely isn't my thing (no Switch 2 yet anyway), a 1 - Abysmal score? Really? So this means the game is buggy as heck, is sub-10 FPS, has terrible, janky controls, explains itself poorly, and crashes every five seconds?

Objectivity is clearly beyond some people. Or they're trolling.

I'm glad there is a game like this but it still isn't my thing, so I'll avoid giving it a score.

Quite disappointed in this, real falls short …..not like Nintendo at all.

Didn't vote, never going to play this game. If I had to eyeball it based on everything I've seen and heard about it, it looks like a 4, maybe even a 3 given the controls but I'll never know for sure how good or bad they are.
If this game didn't have Nintendo's name on it nobody here would give it any attention, it'd fall right into the eslop pits with no fanfare.
Its legacy will be Scott the Woz giving it an "eh" three or four years from now on some Switch 2 retrospective.

I couple few tweaks and this game could have long legs:

• much deeper options (follow Rocket League rubric)
• redesign gameplay elements to be less "realistic" and more fun. Suggestion: instead of the needlessly difficult to perform bunny hop to jump, just press ZR+ZL to do a short rocket boost in the air (rebounding would instantly be better). Place refreshing rocket fuel pickups on court (again follow Rocket League).

I watched a stream this weekend. The players seemed to be moving and dipsy-doodling deftly, so someone at least has mastered the control scheme. I haven't played it, so I can't rate it, but I will say my wrists tired just from watching it, so I'm hesitant to drop $20 on it.

Havnt played it but no game I've ever played would be a 1 out of 10.it would have to not actually play for me to award anything that.

I gave it a 7. I’ve put 4 hours into it now. Unfortunately it’s a game that 3-4 weeks from now I don’t see too many who bought it continuing to play. Besides the fun of the online games (which they are fun) there’s nothing to keep you coming back. Really needs to be a level system or something to provide incentive to keep playing.

Also, everyone struggles with the controls at first. Some are willing to put in the time to get it down and others are less willing. Even at 4 hours I’m still getting better with the controls. But once the controls are learned the actual games are quite fun, especially when you get teammates who are willing to pass.

I’ll abstain from the poll because I haven’t played it, though the fact it failed to convince me to purchase probably effectively communicates my opinion on the game; it’s definitely not for me.

Had to vote 1/10 for me personally since the game's lack of accessibility options makes it a non starter for me. I can't use mouse controls and there is no reason the game can't have a normal control option.

Some people are voting 1? Really? It's as awful as Superman 64, Desert Bus, and Big Rigs. I think these people are conflating 'physically unplayable' with 'this isn't what I wanted Nintendo to release.'

The Big N is spamming the hell out of this game in the Nintendo Today app and NSO Rewards, so its clear it thought this game would be setting the world alight. But it's not taking off like Splatoon did, or even ARMS, and that must be quite a big a 'L' for Nintendo, as this was the game to sell the lacklustre mouse controls gimmick.

Fine for what it does, but what it does isn’t very much. Quite insubstantial for the price.

I wasn't even able to get through the tutorial, because my right Joy-Con's mouse doesn't work very well, so I couldn't go straight forward as a result... Has anyone else had issues with their Joy-Con's mouse controls?

7 seems fair to me. Visually it’s actually quite nice and polished, and the models, music and gameplay design were reminding me a lot of Splatoon, so I was very unsurprised to find Hisashi Nogami served as Producer. The main thing I wish for is some sense of progression in your rank. I think they didn’t want players obsessing over competition - another common Nintendo move for better or worse.

As I’ve approached rolling credits I agree with this site’s review that the controls - the main selling point - are about 90% there. The bunny hop really requires you to yank both joycon straight up, not the slight lift you usually do with a mouse, which makes the 100x jump rope challenge evil. And I’m at a loss for how to wheelie straight forward as required for the ‘Tilt & Run’ trial. It seems very timing sensitive and not well explained by the game. Granted you don’t need these techniques to just hop in a match and have fun.

Still waiting for the one game that sells me a console.

A Metroid bundle maybe.

Poor. It's not outright abysmal but it definitely could've been a lot better. Maybe some people would be forgiving if it didn't look so dystopian and sterile. If Nintendo's name wasn't on this, I doubt a lot of people would care about it.

@Tyranexx While I do think practically every 1 in the score is likely from trolls/haters who haven’t played the game, I think a game can be functional and still merit a 1. Everyone has different standards for what a “1” means to them just as there are some people here who give away 10s like they’re kittens and others who daren’t feign 🧐 to give any game a 10 since there’s no game that’s perfect.

The visual looks terrible
The gameplay didn't even look interesting at all to me since I have nearly zero interest with basketball.
Mouse control already sounds abysmal.
No physical release.
This is completely very Non Nintendo vibe game.
ARMS still looks way much better and I gave the score 8 from 10.

I've not bought the game, even though it literally launched to the bargain bin, but I did play some of the "Global Jam" and will say, the controls worked well, but after about 20 minutes of playing and going through the tutorial I was just flat out bored and have no interest in going any further with this title. I also realize that not every game is for every person and my opinion of that game should NOT sway anyone from enjoying it if they do.

That said, it isn't for me and I will not be voting since I didn't buy the full game and that seems like an unfair vote to make.

It looks very boring from a distance and proved to be that for me. I do hope to see something more exciting utilize the control scheme, I feel like it could work well for some type of mech game, or even a game that uses tanks as the main mode of transport. Just not the constant back and forth motion, it didn't feel great just tiring.

It’s 20 dollars yall. You get what you pay for. My main complaint is I wish it had more life to it, but I feel like the amount of content for what you get is fair, and I’m having a good time with it.

@TotalHenshin That's a fair take; due to human bias, no review score will be entirely objective and will always have some degree of subjectivity. For what it's worth, I fall into the "no game is 100% perfect crowd" and rarely award 10s. If the flaws are very minor, however, I can often look past them and will round up to 10. I often round one way or another when rating games on this site since we can only vote using full numbers, not decimals. I do try to be very objective when it comes to my scoring but do admit my biases can cause scores to fluctuate a little.

I think the main thing that bothers me is giving bogus ratings to games (review bombing or inflating) when one hasn't even played the game themselves. This comes off to me as disingenuous. Another is related to accessibility complaints; while these are valid, I don't agree with review scores being a good avenue to air these grievances. Written surveys or talking to reps are the best way IMO. Or at least some form of constructive feedback that doesn't involve throwing numbers with little to no explanation. This would be similar to me giving a 1 to Kid Icarus: Uprising since there aren't any good leftie options. While I've never played the game due to that reason - nor have I rated it - I fully realize it has a lot of merits.

I ultimately realize polarized scores are usually a drop in the bucket, especially as time wears on. I don't lose sleep over it. But it does elicit a few facepalms from yours truly. Especially when there are countless gaming experiences worse than this game out there.

Why are people expecting a £60 experience from a £17 digital exclusive? Calibrate your expectations perhaps.

About a 4/10, it's not terrible but still boring and mediocre as can be.

That fact that 7 is the most popular option goes to show that grade inflation is rampant and widespread. When it comes to bad games, people think of the score the game actually deserves and add 3 to it.

@arabiansanchez You can get a wonderfully imaginative, creative, and content-filled experience from UFO 50 for $25. If you have lowered your standards for cheaper games then you do you, but most gamers don’t feel compelled to plop down a $20 on shovelware or slop because the developer had sunk too much cost to cancel it.

@Aeralto It’s not shovelware or slop though? It’s also not a classic. Things can be in between. I don’t think £17 is expensive for what it is.

@Aeralto A five-point scale is better as it avoids this issue, but for some reason people hate the fact it doesn't look specific enough (as if reviewers even use the 10-point scale for that reason).

1 = Terrible, 2 = Passable, 3 = Decent, 4 = Great, 5 = Brilliant.

So simple and elegant.

I'd be between a 6 and 7 personally. Had a lot of solid matches with people and the controls are very good (plus HD Rumble 2 really shines through), but I do understand that the whole package can feel a bit barebones.

Rating it a 1 is laughable because that should be reserved for games that are broken beyond belief, and Drag x Drive is absolutely playable.

I think anyone with a Switch 2 should buy it at $20. Yes, it's "good" not great, but it's a totally fresh experience and a unique concept that is very well implemented. You'll spend a good deal more time with it than a $20 movie theater outing.

And I'm legit interested in wheelchair basketball after playing it!
