Don't they return after a while when there's an event? It adds to the fun in participating. Putting them there permanently makes you ignore most of them in the long run when there's ton of them.

I always try to get all icons (if I remember to do so in time), but even more so in the case of Mario Galaxy ones - by the way, having to use platinum points to get them doesn't particularly matter in my opinion, what actually sucks is them being available only for a limited time!

@Lizuka They expanded it on Switch 2 adding Pokemon and loads of extra icons (I think it's about double) so they haven't forgotten about that page. They have it because people without Nintendo Switch Online need icons too.

I want to know why they even bothered to add a permanent selection of some of the icons just to have it be locked to five specific games and then never expand it further. Genuinely feels like they just forgot they have that section.

Why did this ever need 'waves'? It's a flippin' icon. Not everything has to be stretched out to 'maximise consumer engagement'.

@Uncle_Franklin I can't see them supporting it beyond 2026 either. The fact that the upcoming 2D Yoshi game isn't coming to it (even though it could easily run it) indicates they're not really doing the duel release thing that Sony did for years. Same with Poketopia really. It seems to more be games already announced before Switch 2 came out they're doing that.

It'll probably just be more niche and weird smaller games they release on Switch 1 next year (stuff similar to Tomodachi Life and Rhythm Heaven) plus ports of Yoshi's Wooly World and Kirby's Epic Yarn or the rumoured Kirby Planet Robobot port.

Will be interesting to see if they continue supporting the Switch in the way that Sega and Sony did with past consoles over the years.

My suspicion is that other than Pokemon there won't be any Switch games beyond 2026.

speaking of platinum points my cope is that they'll eventually release switch home themes that can be bought with them. nintendo today already toys with the idea of game themed UI we're so close
