Similar to Hades, which was comic-book style visuals + stunning music + fast paced gameplay + in-depth story, this one is - ABSOLUMETLY gorgeous animated visuals in a way I genuinely can't describe but that scratches a primal itch in me + very fast and fun beat-em-up gameplay with a surprising amount of depth apparently + an amazing fantasy setting + a gareth coker soundtrack.

I'm absolutely stoked for this game and all its aspects. I know people don't like stuff like this, but I strongly prefer hand-drawn or stylised comic booky visuals like this to pixel art. Can't express the number of times this type of animation is there in a cinematic or reveal trailer for an indie game, only to then revert to rather overdone (imo) pixel art for the gameplay in a disappointment for me personally. These are like dream visuals for me.

I didn't realize we were getting Golden Axe-style mounts, even!

If Gamestop is to be believed, my preorder will be in on Oct 17th. I can't wait! Guard Crush Games did an amazing job with Streets of Rage 4. With Absolum being their own original IP, it looks like they're letting their imaginations run wild. I've a feeling fans of the genre really will be in for a treat.

Personally, I think roguelike/roguelite is a perfect fit for arcade action games like this - I love unlocking characters, abilities, new stages, etc, in games, so done right, the rogue elements can really enhance replayability beyond just the vaunted one coin clear. :)
