No, Bandai Namco didn't work on Bananza. It's not listed on Bandai Namco Studios website (the division of BN that works with Nintendo). They mention specifically what work they do on every game.

Might just be a nod to Pac-Man as it released in 1980, with Donkey Kong releasing 1981. Both were absolute giants of the arcades, so this is just paying respect to what would have been competition/rivel at that point in time.
Games regularly give a nod to a game/company they respect, I imagine the same is here, either Nintendo as a whole or just developers/programmers.
