Undertale as a game is underwhelming. Undertale as a story you are an active agent in is phenomenal, and that's its special sauce. As a piece of interactive fiction I'm not sure Undertale is going to be surpassed any time soon in terms of what it does. Happy anniversary, Undertale.

There were enough original and intriguing game mechanics that made me stay but I found Undertale disturbing and unpleasant by the way the story unfolds. I couldn't tell you more without spoiling this already bitter sauce.
Just don't put too much trust in that skeleton character that sticks with you along that game, which has been widely praised, but turns out to be a sadistic moral lesson, in my opinion.
Keep in mind I'm in minority, but still...

I recall playing through it when it released on PS4, went for the platinum too and had a decent time with it but I will probably never replay it.
The soundtrack is probably the single best thing about the game.
