I had the same question about life sims - how many can we need 😂 Is it just me or did all of them kind of look like a ripped off mix of Animal Crossing and Minecraft? (Edit: scrolling through the rest of the news from the past day my eyes landed on this: "NEWS Pokémon Pokopia Looks Like An Adorable Mix Of Minecraft And Animal Crossing" 😂 Apparently I'm not alone lol, though I do think also Dinkum or smth and the mii life sim also looked samey...)

I liked the Direct overall but it had such weird content and flow I thought: why so many dime a dozen games shown off. Also, where's Elden Ring? I wonder if it's getting its own airtime soon or if there is something more worrying about its no-show like a delay.

Lastly, I might have lived under a rock but Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined took me off guard in all the right ways: day one for me!

It didn't have that "Fist-pumping-while-jumping-around-the-room" moment for me, like a Symphony of the Night or Chrono Trigger type of reveal would do to me, but this is a LOT better than the weak little Directs so far.

I'm also really disappointed with the output of Switch 2 enhancement patches. I figured Nintendo would at least drop these for their own games at a fairly regular cadence, but we've got nothing since the Splatoon 3 patch on June 12.

And this selection of Switch 2 Editions feels pretty random. I'd much rather just get simple patches for 60 FPS and 1080p handheld for free for most games than pay $10 for whatever else these are offering.

I feel like I'm gonna be saving a lot of money this generation compared to last.

I’m not sure why anyone would expect a new Mario game for the 40th anniversary when we haven’t got one before. Even Mario Galaxy 2 which released in the 25th anniversary year wasn’t billed as being part of any anniversary celebration-the anniversary release was Mario All Stars, a SNES ROM dumped onto a Wii disc.

I was watching the same game within the direct. Are people buying every new cosy crafting Animal Crossing / Stardew Valley -like?

Who knows, there could be a game next year, perhaps a Galaxy game considering the theme of this year's celebration. Just because nothing got announced in this Direct, doesn't mean it's over. Wait for the one early next year!

PS: If you were someone listening to all the over zealous predictions and got your hopes raised, next time, don't!
