Does anyone else think Camelot Software Planning is not being put to best use by Nintendo?

Camelot Software Planning is a company I hold in high regard for their game development philosophies and their use of said beliefs in their RPG series, Golden Sun, for Nintendo.

I became a fan of GS and the company after playing the IP’s games on NSO and buying and playing a copy of Dark Dawn, the last entry in the series to be released by them. I have even found myself quoting their principles taken from their website. The one where they quote famous people from history to explain what they want out of new employees: https://www.camelot.co.jp/wp/ Not to mention, as a hobbyist game dev, I actually look up to them.

That said, I feel like Camelot is not being put to best use by Nintendo. I realized that sometime after seeing the reveal of Mario Tennis Fever in the last Direct. Don’t get me wrong, I think the game looks great so far, and because of the inclusion of its adventure mode, I would be curious to learn more about it and see if it’s what I’ve been wanting for to come out from the team. It’s also worth noting we have no confirmation that the title’s being developed by Camelot, but the game certainly looks like their signature style so far, so I wouldn’t be surprised.

I personally would like to see them make games that best take advantage of their utmost level of creativity. To me that was something like GS. If they’re not gonna make a new Golden Sun, I would at least like to see them work on something else that’s varied in creative endeavors. You know, like something that has a world, characters, unique exploration, etc..

I get that they’re a rather small team and Nintendo’s not gonna raise their number of employees. But I actually think it would be all the more worth it if Nintendo did raise their number count. As much as I love Nintendo for their IPs, despite the company’s few flaws right now, I actually think they could benefit from having GS or another IP of different gameplay in their lineup of existing games. You know, more variety, for people that may not be interested in every franchise.

I don’t mean to sound negative or mad writing this post too. This is just something I found to be slightly disappointing and am curious if anyone else feels the same way.

Metroid and Zelda 40th anniversary

Next year will be the 40th anniversary of Metroid and Zelda. So this year for Mario’s 40th anniversary we got Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 remaster. Will Nintendo likely release some more classic games for Metroid and Zelda next year? Maybe we will finally get Metroid Prime 2 and 3 on Switch 1/2 and perhaps remake of Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Ages?

My Nintendo Switch is not loading or turning on

Hey everyone, Recently about 3 weeks ago I tried loading a game on my Nintendo Switch but it was a taking quite awhile to load so I thought my console was stuck and I tried doing a heavy restart by holding the power off button for about 10 seconds, My console powered off but since then I haven't been able to get it to turn back on, The screen comes on but it's stuck just showing the battery icon in the top left and when I hold the power button for a couple seconds it goes to the "Nintendo" logo screen but then turns back off, It won't load past the Nintendo logo screen, I've tried almost everything I can think of to try and fix it but nothing has worked, I'm wondering if this is a battery issue or something to do with the wifi chip as I have had my Switch for 8 years, Has anyone else experienced this issue or has an idea of how to solve it? Any help or suggestions would be super appreciated.

The most iconic tree in gaming

I'm sure we've all had this thought before. After all, trees are just as prevalent in games as they are in real life. And just like in real life, there is only one tree that can be deemed the best, so let's find out which one it is. Here's what you gotta do:

1. Post a tree, preferably with a picture attached.
2. Present your case: give clear and specific reasons you believe your tree of choice is the most iconic.

We may not get a definitive answer, but hey it might to some interesting discussion.

With that, here's my nominee: Woody from Mario Party.

Reason(s):

Look

I'm Woody

Howdy Howdy Howdy

Possible chance of Metroid Prime 4 using third-person view option?

After seeing the latest trailer with Samus on her cycle, I actually wouldn't mind a third-person shooter view too. It would feel fresh for 3D Metroid. I personally know a lot of players that hate the fps pov, but having this third person view option would be nice.

Is the constant negativity in this community getting to anyone else?

I'll preface this post with the fact that I don't like quite a bit of what Nintendo is doing right now. $70 Mario Galaxy bundle, $80 MKW, $50 Amiibo, GKC, etc. But with that said, the negativity in the Nintendo space at the moment feels, in a word, suffocating. You can't talk about anything without price points or anti-consumer practices or something being brought up, and it is quite frustrating. If Nintendo releases a novelty item with novelty item prices that would only ever be bought byat appeal to hardcore fans, that's overpriced garbage. If Nintendo listens to fans and releases a game for a smaller franchise or a spinoff, they are wasting their time and need to get on a new game in a bigger franchise.
Is anyone else noticing this? Is it just me?

We did a little Round Robin pass-the-game challenge in Fuze during the summer. Watch our silly little games being played!

So one person started on a game, and then passed it on to the next. In the end, it resulted in nine quite different games.

We had a fun time developing these, and Dave was kind enough to show them off during the stream.

Virtual Boy for NSO

Since the Virtual Boy goggles work with both Switch models. Would this be a good use for my original Switch 1? Unless there’s some crazy performance difference between the models, I haven’t used my original switch and figured I could just make it my dedicated VB device.

Games that make the 64 the 64

I got access to NSO again, and I've been enjoying the N64 classics with my 8bitdo analogue 64 controller (it's almost perfect.)

While I am thoroughly enjoying what is, I can't help but notice some glaring exclusions: the Cruis'n games, the top gear rally games, and the Rush games!

to me, these games are symbolic of the experience of renting games on N64, as an early adopter, especially the first of each in their series'. I loved these games and I often pine for them when I just want an arcade racer to kind of lose myself in.

how do you feel about these games? any other games that y'all feel are still missing from NSO 64?

Mario Galaxy 1&2 Physical pre-order?

Anyone know where and when we can pre-order Galaxy? I’ve been looking and can’t find it, can wishlist the digital versions but no sign of physical yet.

Are these prices making you cancel your purchases?

Is anyone else fed up?

I watched the direct today and was excited. I planned on buying Prime, Fever. The DK DLC, Fire Emblem, RE 8, RE 9, Galaxy 2, and maybe the Pokemon games, the FF 7 remake, and I was even thinking the Dragon Quest Games and Stardew as I hadnot bought it. Then I looked up prices and started realizing that this was way out of my price range.

I was thinking to myself, half of those games are old so it wouldn't be that expensive and then almost every single game was 10-40 dollars more than I expected. The DLC was something I thought would be 5 bucks and it is 20. The Pokemon DLC is 30!!!

Honestly I didn't buy Galaxy 2 back on the Wii because I was poor and had to pass, it was a 50 dollar game so I assumed that it would be 40 dollars for the two games, but it's 35 per game in the bundle. 40 for Galaxy 2 alone. FF7 is a key card so that's out. I watched that direct and said I think there's 8-10 purchases there and after the sticker shock I think I am getting Prime 4 and Fire Emblem if it's
like 3 Houses, and just waiting until RE 9 is cheap on PC. I got RE7 for 20 bucks, so maybe Nintendo just talked themselves out of me as a customer.

Don't get me started on the Virtual Boy. 100 bucks might make sense if it was a quality headset that you used like the Oculus by sliding the switch 2 in, provided every VB game was on a physical cartridge for game preservation. But 100 bucks for the same awful design from 1995 and you still have to pay a premium subscription to play the games. This might be the worst move Nintendo has ever made

Is anyone else feeling the same way?

I was so excited after Cyberpunk, thinking I was going to be using mouse mode to play games on my huge TV from here on our, but the PC is just so much cheaper for games. 65 minutes and after all that I might buy 1 or 2 games because there is no value anymore.

Could we at least get sales?

Sorry I don't have more money, but horrible corporations ruined the economy out of greed, and now apparently you're one of those companies.

I bought over 600 games from them and every system including the Virtual Boy. But now I seriously am wondering if my Switch 2 is going to continue to be a Balatro machine due to cost. I am already eating just rice Nintendo and polycrisis is just starting.

I didn't even bring up my electric bill... I hate the future.

Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2

I checked to see if these games had a forum thread and I couldn't find any except random older ones that were about different aspects of the games (many of which are locked off). So, since these games are getting rereleased on the Switch 1 / 2, I created this thread so we can chat about the games like any usual thread for a specific game, and talk about any news surrounding the title. I myself am really excited for this since I've never played either of these games before (though I did watch all of 3D All-Stars Galaxy 1 on YouTube a few years back). I might get it at some point if I have a gap in my gaming schedule sometime.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade already purchased error

Recently the pre order for Final Fantasy 7 Remake went live on the eshop. Where the price should be I saw ‘purchased’. I haven’t bought this game or plan to having played it on the PS4. I clicked on to the next page and saw a box that said ‘dowload virtual game card’ which I pressed.

10 minutes later my Switch 2 had downloaded the original PS1 FF7 that I had bought for £7.99 several years ago. I wonder if Nintendo has confused the 2 games and this could cause problems for anyone preordering and ending up with the original game?
