At least I got the right series, lol. I'm happy to see Galaxy 2 get added, love the music in it.

I have 2 points in the guessing game over the last few weeks. 😝 Granted they were the two most obvious ones (the Kirby and Forgotten Lands week and the Galaxy 2 week). I am terrible at guessing the non obvious ones.

I just went through SMG2's soundtrack, and I have to say that I'm disappointed that the Dash Pepper version of Hightail Falls is missing! That's one of my favorite tracks on the OST. ☹️

Ah well, the regular version will have to do. Got 16 tracks added to my playlist this week, so it's a big win either way - that's the most I've added from a single new release since Super Mario World, 8 months ago.

Glad the OST of Super Mario Galaxy 2 is now on Nintendo Music, disappointed it doesn't have the theme of the Comet associated to Cosmic Mario, which was reused for Super Mario 3D Land.

Wish there was also a toggle for the beeps in Beat Block Galaxy.

Overall, I'm not disappointed by this addition.

Even though my guess was wrong, I'll also take this (just like I'll take basically any new soundtrack lol)! I've listened to Sky Station Galaxy before, it's one of my favorite Mario songs ever.

Isn't that one just a straight rip of the Cosmic Comet theme from the first game? In general, most of the songs missing from this OST are already on the first Galaxy's soundtrack. (A lot of the World S music, for example.)

I do agree about the Beat Block Galaxy though. Even if it's still getting added to my playlist anyway lol

@Robot99 Not exactly 100% the same, the Galaxy 2 version is slightly higher pitched and sounds more "techno" at the beginning, might make you think it's actually faster paced than the Galaxy 1 version, but it isn't.

I'm not the best person to describe music, so I think it's best if I provide you with the example.

By the way y'all, don't sleep on the speedrun music. It's good. Really good.

@HammerGalladeBro
Interesting, that's annoying then that they excluded it! Maybe we'll get it if/when we get 3D Land, the theme is prominent in that game, to say the least, lol.

And the soundtrack for this week is Galaxy 2! I thought they were saving it for when it releases in October, or potentially for when the movie releases

Great soundtrack, expected it closer to the movie but a very welcome addition nonetheless

I am glad to be given soundtracks I wanted right when I was running out of soundtracks I wanted to listen to. This and Lost Age are 2 exact ones I wanted. If the next one is Prime 2 it will be three in a row of 2s I specifically wanted.

While I generally prefer the first game's OST by a good margin, the speedrun theme is definitely better in the second game. The desert theme is also worlds better in SMG2, which I think you also mentioned earlier. The Dusty Dune theme is one of the only truly bad tracks in the first game imo.

If you don't mind me asking, how are you listening to these soundtracks that you're "running out"? I personally just pick out my favorites, dump 'em on a playlist, and then shuffle it endlessly - that generally offers enough variety to keep me going. Although I could definitely do with more soundtracks, I've spent the past year trying to water down the dominance Mario Kart has over my playlist, lol.

Prime 2 is pretty high on my own list of wanted OSTs, so I'm with you there!

I have largely focused on games that I have played and know the soundtracks are good, once a week, 40-50 minutes, while driving back and forth from work. There's only so many soundtracks that A. interest me B. I want to listen to anytime soon (often because I don't feel a need to listen to...the Splatoon 3 OST, for example, because I still played it for a while a couple of months ago) C. are long enough to last that amount of time. (for the record, LTTP is so far the closest to matching the exact time, it was just 3 minutes longer, that was neat).

And even then I listened to DKC twice, and Fire Emblem GBA and Clubhouse games, which I wasn't interested in but listened to just because, and they were as mid as I thought they would be. And the only ones I want to listen to soon are Galaxy 2, BOTW, Star Fox 64 and the Golden Sun games. (maybe OOT too because I thought I was gonna replay it soon but I think I changed my mind)

Just not that interested in listening to the songs in any other context other than all of the tracks from specific games, and not regularly, just once (except for Mario Kart 64, which had the same songs in full tracks repeatedly which is still very funny). Maybe in the future I will, especially when there's a lot more added to it and I get to play certain games I haven't yet.

Otherwise right now the only interest I have is to do a playlist that is to "fix" the order in which the songs would show up for Mario Galaxy, since the music for the finale/ending is halfway through, and they skip a bunch of songs before then and then go back to them after those songs, its weird. I just assume how it is presented is just the actual soundtrack they put out back in the day that didn't have all the songs, then followed by all the songs that were NOT on that official soundtrack. I'm certain the Mario 64 one is just the official soundtrack, because at the end it has that piano rendition of the piranha plant lullaby that's not in the actual game.

That's interesting, but all fair! This actually makes me curious - the rest of you guys, how do you usually use this app? I would assume that the most common way of using it is like how I do it by just shuffling a playlist of favorites, but I can definitely see other people preferring different methods.

@Robot99,

"The rest of you guys, how do you usually use this app?"

I actually don't have any of my own playlists, I just listen to whole soundtracks and sometimes pause mid-soundtrack while I'm doing school, or reading, or stuff like that. Or sometimes I'll just play a specific song because I want to listen to that specific song at the moment. I haven't been doing quite as much of it lately though, because I have been busy watching Pokémon on Hoopla before my local library stops supporting it at the end of October.

@Eel
Wait, holy shoot, you can share playlists?? How?

Now, as for how I use the app?

Normally I put my favorite songs on playlists per system (including re-releases).
This way I can still have some songs on certain systems. For example, despite the lack of certain games, soundtracks like Mario Kart 7 and Kirby: Star Allies soundtracks include some songs ripped directly from other games (namely Mario Kart DS, Kirby: Canvas Curse and Kirby Super Star)

I hope they add Virtual Boy games soon with the addition of the system to Nintendo Classics, the boot up music for Galactic Pinball puts you in a mood for a flight takeoff.
