Nintendo Releasing Physical 'Talking Flower' From Mario Wonder Next Spring

I wonder if they'll be available in languages other than English and Japanese.

I expect this to be another obnoxiously expensive gimmick toy. Well, apparently not even that, the direct specified it's not interactive. Seems to just be a figurine that randomly plays quotes

I would pay for not having this.

New desk decoration! You know some of the devs were geeking out and then it made its way to whatever department handles toys. Love that Nintendo keeps its roots as a toy (and playing card) company.

As indifferent as I am to Wonder's talking flowers, some form of interactivity, voice warping, or even syncing with the game so that the toy speaks in place of the in-game flowers could have made this such a fun little accessory. Or here's an idea, you can speak to the flower and the in-game flowers, with a slightly warped voice, will say that in-game instead. So much potential for some inventive and fun shenanigans in classic Nintendo style squandered by modern corporate Nintendo's lack of imagination and ambition.

As it is, I fail to see the novelty at all.

Nintendo seem to be really focusing on their “whale” customers these days, i.e. the small % who will buy literally everything the company sells.

I like the idea, and tbh I did enjoy the talking flower in Wonder, but like others mentioned it could have been so much more. It doesn't even move ... just a piece of plastic with a boombox. Am I the only one who heard a different voice than in the game?

I didn't really mind the talking flowers in the actual game but I'm not so sure about this thing honestly the fact that they actually made the flowers marketable is honestly kinda strange to me because I feel like it's only gonna attract a very niche group of people who like to own werid nintendo merch like this.

Well, we can make our talking flower by using boom box + any plastic flowers.

This is actually a really interesting looking piece of kit! Hopefully anyone who gets this has some fun with it! Unfortunately, I will have to pass, since I'm not made of money and have to pick and choose what I purchase.

@Dom_31 This not being interactive in 2026 is ridiculous. At least make it a big amiibo then that does something in the game. Or put a clock face in it's mouth. Nintendo has become the Jakks Pacific of video game companies this gen, even bringing back the cardboard. 😂

@Chapapa "not interactive" I'm assuming is simply their way iof saying it doesn't work like every other plastic device that we purchase for our homes these days, no voice commands. I'm guessing it says phrases when we press the big button.Thats not "interactive" by today's standard.

@Ooyah just said Mute button which is a thought, but if it's not interactive and we want to mute it there's probably an off-on power button on the bottom, which would in effect mute it. In which case 3D print your own at home.😂

So the “Furby” is back in plant form? I guess I could get one to talk to talk to my Furby. Then they can just berate each other and me and complain about being tired and hungry. Just what the world needs, a needy animatronic.

I feel like they kind of cheaped out with the design here. This thing could have been made with silicone and had mechanical parts inside to make the "mouth" wobble open and less open like how it appears in the games.
It just looks weird being completely static while talking.

@SillyG The issue is how would that work without giving the device Bluetooth which drives up cost and opens up the possibility of safety/privacy concerns…. All stuff that Nintendo who is still very much family oriented thought about.

I never completed Mario Wonder because it had some of the most atrocious sound design in gaming history.
When I saw that flower in the Direct, I was just thinking about how bad the voice and acting was. And that very instant, they announce this.

That would be cool if this was at least integrated with Alexa or Siri

That aside for a general Plushie by all means. Though I think others are more appealing for Plushie status then a Mario flower regardless of artstyle.

Well the reverse of that is Nintendo is being extremely cynical seeing this flower with its dull voice and assortment of equally dull lines as the best thing since baby yoda that must be featured in more games and a cheap yet expensive desk toy, the cynicism comes from just how dull and generic this talking flower is because they don’t think they have to try harder to make something more unique since they see the audience as dullards who eat it up.
Talking Flower is a very fitting name, it talks and it exists and that’s about it, the proof is in the pudding.
