Not in six months, but I could see myself having a Switch 2 in a year, maybe a little longer than that, unless something drastic happens. So that option would've been nice 🤣. Overall well-designed poll, though!

Surprised there was nothing about Games On Sale, since 99.9999972549% of my purchases are on sale.... Yes, that's totally a number that I did the math on....

I generally do not buy games at $70. But I will buy those same games on sale. So I was confused by the language in that question

I have participated the polling.
But I wish there is option for having the Retro video games as I also collect the Retro games like PS2, Wii, NDS, etc.

I always wonder what they do with this data. Wonder who they sell it to.

Physical vs digital is not i don't care. It's it depends on a lot of things.

Online games and games I play a little here and there I'm fine with digital.
For major games I play from start to finish I prefer physical.

Considering there wasn't a shred of Xbox usage for the whole of the questionnaire, that will completely confuse some specific stat 😂

Out of those options, which category do games like Animal Crossing, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Farm Together, MySims, etc fall into? Simulation?

Just finished filling out the survey, saw your profile and realised I've been a reader here for so long and never really reflected on you founding it and never got a chance to say thanks so...

Anthony — thanks for founding Nintendo Life and steering it all these years. I used to bounce around outlets like IGN, Nintendojo, Nintendoexpress and others when looking for news, and even wrote for a few of those back in the day. But for a long time now, Nintendo Life has simply been the place I come back to — easily the most likable and enjoyable Nintendo site for me.

Of course there are occasional pieces that don’t hit my taste (the recent Star Wars back-and-forth on quality issues comes to mind), but overall the coverage is consistently excellent, balanced, and passionate. It shows that the site is built by people who genuinely care.

So yeah, wanted to take this opportunity to give some proper thanks. Keep up the great work, which goes for the full team as well — it’s very much appreciated!

Android/iOS aren't listed as gaming platforms, as expected. 😎
Jokes aside, NETFLIX and Crunchyroll subscriptions are saving gaming on Android, and I appreciate it. NETFLIX and Crunchyroll do what Google don't, ironically.
Also, visual novels aren't listed as genre option. 😢

@Kingy My Nintendo Ninja does a great job as every time I look there is a new game to buy! But not here though. I use an adblocker here. lol.

I might have answered "How many full price games do you typically buy a year?" wrong. I thought it was how many games do you buy not on sale. But now I think it refers to AAA $60 games.

The wording is a little confusing.

@Kiyata those games are usually referred to as life sims, so I would go with simulation.

For the first time I've had to think about the physical vs. digital question. Jon formerly from NintendoLife here published a video today about the Star Wars: Outlaws situation and how the game probably couldn't have run properly on Switch 2 physical media. Switch 2 cartridges read at only 400MB/s vs. 2.1GB/s internal storage. Never have I felt so much like I may actually be getting a worse experience if I buy certain games physically.

I think Nintendo really dropped the ball this gen with their physical media, it really seems to lack feature parity with digital.

I will buy a Switch 2 when there’s an exclusive mainline Zelda or Hollow Knight for it 😅 unless my Launch Switch bites the dust for some reason.

"Gaming news" is a bit limited. I visit many places for gaming information and content, like Digital Foundary. Subsequently I get some news from these places. Similarly, Google supplies some news as part of its suggestions. As to places I strictly visit for news, that's primarily here and Nintendo Directs.

PS: Anthony Dickens is correct. F-Zero X is the best game. It's certainly the best F-Zero game! 🤭

@stache13 I similarly answered full price games as meaning those not on sale. They could be indie games too. The question about indie games is simply to know the rough percentage of those types bought.

These days, I don't even know what AAA means. It's a nonsense term. Is DK Bonanza not AAA because it's cheaper than Mario Kart World? Star Wars Outlaws is cheaper still, and a port, and is that not AAA despite it classed as that on its initial release on other platforms? Street Fighter 6 is another, and even cheaper, example. I class them all as full price titles, as I do Fast Fusion from the Switch 2 eshop. Why? I paid full price for them!

That leads to another question: What really is an indie developer these days! 🤭

I rarely buy games for full price!
At the very least I've been using a game voucher.
My general approach is
1 Used physical
2 Digital on sale.
3 New physical on sale
4 Digital with voucher

Can't recall the last game I've payed full price for.

Yeah that question tripped me up too. I (nearly) ALWAYS wait for SOME kind of sale.

But since Nintendo published games NEVER go on sale (I mean, I'm not going to wait 5 years!), I happily snatch them up on release. If possible I try to have a used game ready to trade in at GameStop, so it FEELS like I got a deal.

Only other time I buy a game full price is if I'm getting it for a game night with friends and family and don't want to miss the opportunity for some couch party multiplayer madness!

Yep, you need to add questions about how many games purchased on sale. The only game I can think of that I bought full price was Bananza because I wanted something good to play on my new system. MKW was bundled so I “only” paid $50 for it (not worth it even at that price). Almost all of my Nintendo games I purchased on sale (my first Switch was an OLED…so a huge library of games and a few would go on sale every once in awhile), or I would use a game voucher if nothing else. Third party games, I will frequently wait for 50% off or more…

Oh I thought this was going to be a survey about the website itself. I was going to request a feature that lets us filter out comments with specific words or phrases. Because there are some topics that I'm personally sick of hearing people complain about, and also some viewpoints around social "issues" that people in here bring up that I personally find abhorrent.

The "current" in "Which current gaming hardware do you own?" is interesting, as it made me realise that I really don’t like any of the new consoles currently available. I still play games on ‘retro’ hardware, which are completely new to me. I feel sorry for the generations to come, that are not going to be able to dive into then old catalogues, once physical games are gone.

I’m a couple days off being in the same bracket as 34 year olds. That’s well depressing, been here since I was like 14 too.

For whoever is putting this together. As a digital marketer of over 35 years it seems like age above 45 should be broken down a bit more. There are more and more "experienced" gamers playing constantly and "45 and older" seems to overrepresent itself. My appeal to an advertiser at 56 is quite different than what it would have been in my late 40s.

I was still in school when I first started reading NLife and middle age is waving at me not that far ahead.

Why didn't this poll ask about a thing integral to asserting my identity but advertisers don't care about?

I know that many people have a "disdain" (I would even say hatred) for cell phone/smartphone/tablet (mobile) games on the Android and iOS platforms, but they are still games and like PC gaming, mobile gaming should also be included in the question of what platforms you have to play.
