Next year will be the 40th anniversary of Metroid and Zelda. So this year for Mario’s 40th anniversary we got Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 remaster. Will Nintendo likely release some more classic games for Metroid and Zelda next year? Maybe we will finally get Metroid Prime 2 and 3 on Switch 1/2 and perhaps remake of Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Ages?

I still want Prime 2 and 3 remastered like the first game. That first remaster was awesome. So Prime 2 remaster is my hope, but I wouldn't be shocked if Metroid 6 is ready next year (it will have been five years).

I'm gonna randomly guess they're gonna find a way to make Four Swords Adventure work for NSO and the Hyrule Warriors DLC will be heavily based on past games for the anniversary. Even with NSO I still think they should do a double pack for Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD (rare justified 70 dollar priced tag) and tbh, Wind Waker HD is enough of a genuine improvement where I don't think Wind Waker being on NSO undermines porting the HD version.

I would definitely buy the HD GameCube Zelda games on Switch, even though I still have both on Wii U in addition to GameCube. I do hope future GameCube remaster releases will be compatible with the GameCube NSO controller .

Expecting the release of a $100 plastic wand needed to play Zelda wind waker that is available only on NSO+

I think Zelda anniversary game is going to be A Link Between Worlds remaster. Considering TotK was 2023, EoW was 2024 and AoI is 2025 it's unlikely 2026 would be a new game but as Switch 2 got GCN NSO it seems unlikely they'd pick WW or TP. ALBW also has non-linearity as Ravio's item rental system allows more flexibility over dungeon completion. Alongside ALBW, maybe AoI DLC considering the timeline of AoC's DLC post-launch.

As for Metroid, I think it'll be Metroid 6 as it would've been 5 years since Dread. Maybe Prime 4 DLC as well considering most Nintendo games get DLC nowadays.

Interesting topic! honestly, i dont think they will do anything HUGEE until the 50th anniversary, but for Zelda I could see an ocarina remake, and a movie trailer plus amiibo, and metroid is a bit more of a mystery. prime 5 is rumored to be in development already, so maybe a teaser for that coming in the 2030s?

BRING NINJI INTO MARIO KART WORLD RIGHT NOW.

I don't know about 'huge', but the 35th anniversary got a remaster and some DLC, plus a game and watch and themed joycons. I suppose the game and watch was the only especially uncommon thing, but there was definitely more total Zelda stuff than a normal year.
