EA Doesn't Currently Have Plans To Bring Battlefield 6 To Switch 2

Not too surprising, but hopefully they reconsider. The more games available the better!

I mean fair, doubt we Nintendo fans would even support it if it was coming to SW2.

Best news ever, I don't remember the last time I play a Battlefield game. I'm surprise it still exist at all.

Hard to have an audience for a game if you don't release the game.

If COD comes over that will be the only shooter that matters to most anyway.

@Serpenterror Yeah games existing don't tend to rely on whether you play them or not. I think they tend to focus on whether loads play them instead of just one person.

Nintendo gamers who want these types of games likely have some way to play them already since they’ve never really been on Nintendo hardware aside from a couple notable exceptions that spring to mind on the Wii and WiiU. Still it would be nice for people to have options.

I would buy an NCAA football game (complete on cart) if they released it, but Madden doesn’t really interest me. The wait continues.

Honestly don't care. It would have been a Game-Key Card anyways. Switch 2 is for 1st party games.

I still think this is bad news for this new Nintendo console. It tends to be contagious. Switch 2 needs these types of games for broad relevance. Plus, I don't have other ways to play them, if they're good, and I want to.

I would have bought it on Switch 2 if they made it available. Having Battlefield on a handheld device would be perfect for my gaming habits as of late. I’ll probably still play it on PS5 as it’s the only shooter franchise that I still enjoy.

Nintendo could do something Halo ODST/Reach-like with a Metroid Prime spinoff, with online multiplayer, there’d be even smaller want for games like this. Probably do the franchise some good too.

Mind you Battlefield hasn’t been that good since BF3, arguably BF4.

@topsekret This is unfortunately what would happen due to the game size and well it's EA. As much as I'd like it on Switch 2 I think it would struggle to do the destruction mechanics with 64 people online. Sure it could work but I'm sure the framerate would be rough.

Everyone, don't expect much from EA on Switch 2. Activision will finally bring COD back, it'll do fairly well, and make EA/BF even less relevant to Nintendo players in the process. EA even makes Ubisoft look good... Now that's saying something. 😧

Would it even run or would it be like outlaws and "run"? Listen, we're on a Nintendo news site. We all know in our hearts that has time goes on we shouldnt expect major spec chasing AAA games. These things don't even run well on things like the ally x or Z series. I don't think people should pretend every game is possible on the switch or can be made to run in a state that's even worth it.

I am Okay with this.
But i am waiting to see what the 10yrs deal between MS and Nintendo will do with the Call of duty franchise.

yeah well, Switch 1 didn't get ANY Battlefield games so this shouldn't even be surprising.

Battlefield 6 will not release on PS4, while Black Ops 7 will. So from a purely technical standpoint, I wouldn’t compromise with a version which can’t run with 60 fps most of the time. Since CoD4 MW, this is the essence of these shooters.

I'm quite sure that among the 150M sold Switches globally, parts of their core audience exist. And of course, if they cared to make an effort to expand that core audience, they might wanna consider releasing somewhere with "new people" to try it out. But hey, if they don't want those people's money (yes, I would buy this 😂 Guess they're too scared of not reaching enough new peeps for the effort.)

Bring all Battlefield to Switch 2 !

Not just that, no Battlefield games have been released on any Nintendo platform, not just Switch.

Xbox proved me out of online, so you can put it on Switch 2 on a real cartridge or I won’t be buying it, EA.

COD is a shooter for kids.
This is why it has Clown, Smurf, Hello Kitty skins etc.
It's the most cringe shooter ever made.

This one actually looks pretty good in my opinion. Seems like lessons were learned from the disaster that was 2142. It's also funny reading some of these comments that are coming off as petty and bitter because it's not going to be on Switch 2 as of now.😐 More games is always good in my opinion, especially for a new console

@AllBLK They had to ditch PS4 and Xbox One as they couldn't handle the mass destruction in BF6.

Switch 2 have a very weak CPU and can't handle the physics and mass destruction in this game.

Cyberpunk 2077 runs at only 30 FPS on Switch 2 because of CPU limitation.
Runs at 120 FPS on PC Handhelds that only cost 100-200$ more than Switch 2, because of their superior CPU's.

Nintendo should have used a AMD APU instead of NVIDIA to get more CPU power to get a lot more third party support.

Battlefield 1 was the last truly good one.

5 was a let down and 2042 was complete trash.

An AMD APU would have not been worth the increase in heat, weight, energy consumption, and the loss of API support that Nvidia offers Nintendo on top of losing DLSS.

@AussieMcBucket the regular Switch sold fine without games like Battlefield and Call of Duty… especially while the device lifetime sales is getting ready to eclipse the DS and will catch the PS2 (which both systems predate the online fad of those games).

I have 2 Gaming PC's with NVIDIA GPU's, so i know.

@Toastmaster You have a gaming PC, that can draw as much power as they want and is user swappable with the only limit being a user’s financial income. Tech like DLSS, FSR, TAA… etc has been very important to the success of modern day consoles especially low powered machines.

If you have to run a GPU at full power to hit a good native resolution for decent image quality… That leaves very little power for CPU tasks, and other task in the render budget. DLSS lower GPU consumption and render budget due lower native resolution. Leaving render budget for higher effects, textures, and other CPU tasks.

Yes, that doesn’t matter for PC cause you run your GPU at 400 watts and CPU at 200 watts.

EDIT: PS: No one care you have 2 gaming PC with Nvidia GPU… I’ve had 3 gaming Desktop with a 2080s, 3080ti, and 4090. And 2 gaming laptops with a 3060 and 3070ti

@progx I mean, yes, but this system is being marketed differently. And I wonder if that will have run its course soon enough. They purposely made it more powerful so that it could keep up with other consoles and have more of the same games released for it. Otherwise, we could all have just continued playing S1-level games forever.

People do care that i own Gaming PC's and a 1500$ PC Handheld, because most can't even afford even a cheap 400$ Steam Deck.
If you played on PC, you would have known that games are more CPU demanding than they have ever been.

The reason why so many games run at only 30 FPS on PS5, is because of it's useless Walmart CPU, not the GPU.

Nintendo didn't get that memo that CPU is more important than ever.
Nintendo also don't know that a console is supposed to support SSD.
Iwata's Wii U supported 2 x SSD's at the same time.
If Iwata still lived, Switch would have supported SSD like Wii U.

COD BLOPS 7 isn't coming to Switch 2 on day 1 because of storage limitation.
Storage limitation on Switch 2 will make sure it miss out on a lot of games.

@Toastmaster why do you think people care what you own? Or where did you get the idea that "most can't afford a steam deck" you think this site is about measuring assets? Shall we compare car or home ownership to determine who knows more about DLSS or if AMD/ Nvidia was a better choice for Nintendo to use?

@Toastmaster except the reason Battlefield didn't come to the Wii U like COD BO2 did...was the CPU was equally weak in comparison. The WiiU GPU had plenty of power, but with the CPU being so weak and only clocked at 1.0 GHZ...several engines couldn't find right on it

@AussieMcBucket it isn’t going to make a difference if those games aren’t on the Switch or not. For Call of Duty and Battlefield, it would help their numbers if they brought those games to the Switch. The choice rests with Microsoft and EA. Nintendo doesn’t need those games for the Switch since the audience clearly didn’t care if they were any way. So, I disagree with your perspective. Plus, the fun isn’t going to wear out on the Switch any time soon. Over 150 million users still bought a lot of software on the system. Activision and EA missed out on it.

@progx You don't think out of 150 million users, that some number of them would want to play Battlefield or Call of Duty on their Switch? I don't even know what I'm missing, because I've never really had the chance to try them. Besides, I think that also runs into the EA catch-22. They give a severely compromised port or weird version of a game, one that's lacking some key components that allow you to play with others or something like that. It doesn't sell well, most likely because of that and lots of cautionary reviews explaining the shortcomings. And then, they say that their games simply don't sell well on Nintendo's systems. I don't believe it. People have a variety of interests. I'd be curious to try one. I hope Madden sells well enough to build a base and encourage them to include Switch 2 in their plans.
