Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Free Title Update Now Live On Switch And Switch 2

Kind of a shocking update but a very welcome one. They probably could've saved the PSP version for a future collection of its own and instead just casually created the definitive version of the game as a free update with five days notice, no complaints here.

Nice, the more fighters the better. First we got Dragon Ball Sparking Zero for Switch, then after that we got Mortal Kombat Trilogy reveal for the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, after that we got the upcoming DLC fighters for Guilty Gear Strive, and now Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max characters for the Capcom Fighting Collection 2. Can't wait to try them all. Also nice that we are getting Virtua Fighter 5 REVO for Switch 2 as well though knowing Sega they may turn that into a fake game.

This is actually insane news! I don't know if people realize it... and of course it happens during EVO! I love it.

Im really curious as to what they would add for a Fighting Collection 3.
We at least need Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Marvel vs Capcom 3.

@Yoshi3 The former is a total licensing nightmare (even back in the day they had to cut a character for the international release) and the latter is still available on PS4, Xbox, and Steam, so I doubt you'll ever see either of them in a collection.

I think it would be cool if they were able to add new sprites and characters from other games into Alpha 3 that were not in any previous version.

I'm fine with these collections which are available now.
I would be happy for more from SEGA. Like a new collection with Crazy Taxi 1 and 2(with original soundtracks) or a remastered collection with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.
The Dreamcast had a lot of nice games which could be available on Switch 2.

And of course... A new 1080 Snowboarding and Wave Race from Nintendo... Dreams are for free😁

But no Switch 2 1080p handheld update... I'm starting to think we're just not going to get resolution upades

They are being Super Rad Capcom, and it's a good look. They should keep doing that.

@conditionals it’s funny, I don’t like any filter for the Capcom Fighting Collection games, but the Neo Geo games do have a filter that looks good to me. I wish CFC could have a filter like the NeoGeo games.

@Yoshi3 tatsunoku vs capcom is so great. Yeah it’s more basic in some ways but I actually like that. And it’s awesome playing as these old anime characters. I really hope that game can be saved from “licensing issues” oblivion!

I would like a fighting collection 3 to include Final Fight Revenge and Street Fighter EX

Probably because of Capcom's stock tanking (which is really unfair tbh, a game with ten million copies sold is a failure in investor's eyes now lol).

At this point the announcements from EVO have been far better than the latest partner direct.

@Fiergala The problem with Wilds' sales is that they aren't maintaining the way World's were. From April to June the game sold only 80,000 copies more than Rise did in the same timeframe despite being years older and it's a title they were counting on being able to leg out for years and continually sell more content for. The game's poor reception is a serious problem for them because they were counting on it being a years-long big money maker they could rely on and it's proving to not be that.

Outside of Steam where it's still overall Mixed: 4.20/5 with 69 thousand votes on PSN, 4/5 on Xbox Live with 290, 89 on OpenCritic and around that on all platforms on Metacritic. Over eight million sold in three days. But yes, the reception was "poor".

@The_Nintend_Pedant They give these contents and characters to you for free via DLC if you already got the collection. They could had easily charge you $20 for all four fighters and those music, modes, and artworks but they choose not to. Now you can use that $20 you just save to buy Yuzo Koshiro latest game which is also $20 on Steam that came with a free rom that you could use for play on a real Sega Genesis.

@Fiergala They sold eleven million in the first two months and then under 500,000 in the three months afterward. That's an incredibly bad drop and indicates that yes, the game is being poorly received.

World in its initial launch only sold five million and it still by this point in its life cycle outsold where Wilds is at. That's dire; unless the game vastly picks up in sales at some point it''s very likely going to sell under half of what World has total.

I think someone should update the title of the free title update because the title is unclear of what title is getting updated.

@Lizuka So you don't think that front-loading has anything to do with fans who were introduced by World getting the new game immediately? Plenty of games would still kill for 500k in a quarter btw, Concord launched with 20k players lmao. It also has a completely single-player-possible campaign including more missions when you defeat the title monster, it isn't relying on live service multiplayer like... Concord. But anyway World still took until March 31st 2019 to sell 12 million and Wilds hasn't had a single sale afaik so don't count your eggs before they hatch bud. As for a spike in players, G-Rank Expansion budday.

Great to see this! I can't wait to get this collection myself, but I'm currently on a bit of a budget, so I'll have to wait for a nice sale for this one and I'd like to get Marvel Vs. Capcom first.

That’s great news, although it’s unfortunate that the physical editions didn’t come with these additions from the start. Same for VS mode and 2x resolution.

I love this collection so much. Filters are for once pretty good considering that most of these games were natively 480p and not 480i or 240p. The Saturn version of Street Fighter Zero 3 remains still a bit more reactive imo.

That's really great! I'm just holding back until they add in the Power Stone 2 and Project Justice content from the console versions.

That update came pretty quick for this collection. It’s too bad it’s hard to find people to play against online though.

This is great and all, but when are we going to get Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars??

I tried it. Street Fighter Alpha 3 has the new characters and the balancing seems to be actually better now.
But on the downside, i had some serious Framerate issues with that game.

@Bass_X0 I think at that point the only characters that they didn't have in SFA3 were from the original, so that would only leave Geki, Lee, Retsu, Mike and Joe. Though I could see them maybe bringing in someone else from SF3.

@Pally356 Mike is basically just Balrog, Geki probably would just been a male Ibuki, Lee would had just been an older Yun or Yang as he is their uncle (an adopted uncle though), not sure why they did not include him for Alpha 3 Upper as it would make more sense for Lee to be in the Alpha series than his not yet grown-up nephew. Joe would had been too similar to Cody. The only unique fighter of all of them is Retsu who already had a unique character sprite made for Capcom Fighting Evolution but was never utilize. If there was a Street Fighter Alpha 4, my guess is Retsu would had a better chance of returning for that.

@Serpenterror Kyosuke from CVS2 is another suitable option, since Rival School takes place in the Street Fighter universe, and they have the spirited and animation already.

@PKDuckman He'd still need new artwork for it to work. Character select, portrait, win portrait, official artwork, you name it.

Finally! I don’t need to wait for the “never going to be ported” PSP Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (Double Upper) to play these characters.
