The cartridge production prices will only get lower over time. The tech will advance and the stuff they’re using now will become “old” and get cheaper to produce.

Nobody wants blu rays anymore, man... so yea, if the same happens in the video game market, prices will go up and not down. But so far, we're not seeing that.
I would strongly suspect Nintendo want to go fully digital and to completely lock down their games systems against modding etc. They want to protect their IP and maximise profit as much as possible and provide the bear minimum rights and convenience to consumers. However there is a lot of competition in the gaming sector and other options are available. It's for consumers to resist excessive pricing and poor access to the content they purchase. When I tried to re-download wii content I purchased sometime ago it wasn't possible and assume this is still the case but not sure. It feels to me any content purchased from Nintendo has a limited shelf life compared to something like Steam.
Basically I trust Steam more than Nintendo to be fair with regard the content I have purchased. That is my big issue with Nintendo, I just don't trust them at all to be fair.

You could definitely still redownload Wii games back in April of this year and the Nintendo website says you still can. Either you tried during an outage or there is something wrong with your Wii. So far Nintendo has not taken anything away even once as far as I know. Since Switch games are based on an online Account like steam rather than failable hardware like Wii, Switch games may still be redownloadable essentially forever — we certainly don't have any reason to think they won't be.
The prices are here to stay because of Tariff wars are what they are. So once those are gone we can see what prices the market forces shows what the cost to consumers are. But at this age and time prices are because of Tariffs.
@Jarodlaraus I’m liberal or democrat. You cannot blame everything on trump even if I don’t like him. Share the blame around. Surely coorporate greed is a thing.
