Yoshi fans, unite!
Nintendo has announced a brand new Yoshi adventure for the Switch 2: Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launching Spring 2026, this will be a traditional side-scrolling Yoshi adventure with visuals that definitely call back to the original Yoshi's Island on the SNES. It seems like it'll be a fairly breezy adventure with little challenge for veterans, but gosh, it looks lovely.
"One day, on the island where Yoshi and his friends live, a peculiar talking book named Mr. E suddenly falls from the sky. This mysterious book’s pages contain information about unusual creatures, so Yoshi decides to jump in and help investigate. Join Yoshi for a new adventure when Yoshi and the Mysterious Book launches on Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2026."
So, what are your thoughts on this one? Are you ready for a new Yoshi game? Let us know.

Yes! Yes! Yes! This looks so awesome!
I wonder if wooly world is officially dead. Makes me sad.
Favourite new announcement in the Direct for me. If I couldn't have a new 3D Mario teased, at least I got this adorable little dinosaur tumbling through another gorgeous platforming art piece. Already looks so much better than Crafted World, so I'm definitely interested.
The announcement didn't do much for me, but I'm happy for Yoshi fans.
Looks super cute. Hope it has enough for us older fans though.
Yoshi series games tend to be good, good quality outings. Looks purrty!
@LEGEND_MARIOID last yoshi game looked blurrrrrry!
@sixrings Which one?
@sixrings Nintendo acts like Crafted World is a replacement for Woolly World, but Woolly World is so much better!
So far the highlight! Looks great.
This looks amazing. This and Dragon Quest VII have stolen the show so far.
Love this art style
BEST GAME OF THE DIRECT NO BIAS AT ALL NO SIRREE BEST GAME HERE
ahem
I am very much looking forward to this game, if you couldn't tell. It looks so adorable! The artstyle is so good! I'll admit i was hoping to finally have that 3D Yoshi game but I'm happy to get a new Yoshi game at all.
@Peteykins well I would have given crafted world a shot if it ran half decent. So I can’t say if it’s good or not. But wolly world was great
Sold. Always loved these games.
I loved Crafted World - really great game. Can't wait for this one as well!
I've no idea what this is meant to be, the overly "kiddy" narration kind of scares me lol
Looks cute. Will get eventually.
I’m really torn on this. I love Yoshi, Woolly World is one of my favorite games and everything, but I’m really scared this will lean into the Princess Peach Showtime genre of basically just for little kids. Really hoping it doesn’t though
It looks so incredibly cute I think my heart could burst just by looking at it
The arts type in this game looks absolutely adorable.
My highlight of the direct.
As a massive Yoshi fan, this was one of the best surprises of this Direct! I love the art direction and it looks like it could be a blast!
This was a nice surprise and the idea of Yoshi entering a storybook world reminds me of Yoshi’s story and Yoshi topsy-turvy.
the artsyle is so gorgeous. looks just like a very chill entry in the series. day one!
Looks nice, but probably won´t be a priority for me.
Nintendo rereleasing the Virtual Boy catalogue on NSO while still leaving Yoshi's Wooly World on the WiiU and 3DS is absolutely insane to me.
It really makes me wonder if they have any logic behind these things, or are just literally throwing darts at a board.
Really wanted a re-release of Woolly World.
This one looks even slower and more boring than Crafted World,
pretty worried about the series.
So now the question becomes: will Yoshi stay it's own IP in Smash, or will it be fully merged under Mario? Also, is this still Good-Feel?
Looks so much fun! Can't wait!
Hopefully it's closer to wooly world than it is crafted world.
Crafted was deathly boring
I'm not entirely sold on this. Woolly World and Crafted World are definitely good games, but something about Mysterious Book isn't doing it for me. I'll eagerly await more footage and information though, because I'd like to have my mind changed on this one.
Removed - trolling/baiting
@LEGEND_MARIOID crafted world 576-675p DOCKED!!!
This genuinely looks excellent. I love Yoshi games when they’re done right (Island and Woolly World, specifically) so I’m hoping this is more like them! I like the art style, too!
Let’s all hope it’s developed in-house and not outsourced again.
I'm excited we finally have what might as well be a new Yoshi Story (with a solid aesthetic to boot!), but tempering my expectations that it's more gonna be a vibes-based adventure, rather than a platformer with challenge.
Which, nothing wrong with the former, if that's what you're looking for.
was yoshi tormenting that critter? for science
@sixrings Didn't notice blurring bar the deliberate depth in field visuals at times which were interesting. Noticed the odd frame drop but not fussy. Cozy and satisfying platform gaming
It looks good, I’m loving the art style. Concept seems unique.
@Uncle_Franklin "This one looks even slower and more boring than Crafted World"
@Vil "Already looks so much better than Crafted World"
Duality of man right here. 😉
I don't want to play this because it looks like it's not going to touch Yoshi's Story...like every single other Yoshi game since Yoshi's Story... and I'm just tired of that frustration. My six year old would love it though.
This and Pokopia are the only games from the show that I want to know more about.
@NintendoWife Developer will most likely be Good-Feel, who also made Woolly World and Crafted World. If it’s in-house, then maybe Next Level Games.
@Max_the_German Yeah that's why I said it - of the Good-Feel games I liked their very first one, "Epic Yarn", but the Yoshi game for Wii U was so generic that I was done with them.
The art style is fantastic, but these Yoshi games don't always have the best track record.
The game looks very charming. But I am not super convinced about the gameplay, these yoshi games have all been so watered down. Last one I kind of enjoyed I think was yoshi island 2...
Looks wise this would have been awesome to reignite SNES Yoshi's Island, great animation and style. Shame.
I love Yoshi’s island for snes. It’s one of the cutest platformers of all time and the music is absolutely sublime. This new one looks to scratch that itch as well. Into the queue it goes.
yoshi wery cuute
My favourite of the direct too. The artstyle is very Yoshi and I love it. I want to see more gameplay.
Interesting concept and of course also incredibly cute (as expected since it's a Yoshi game, but still) - looking forward to it whenever it comes out next spring!
Artstyle is amazing, but this will be another very slow and boring (and easy) Yoshi primarly focussed on small children.
I do like the look of it but I'm worried it'll be just as bland as Yoshi's Story back on the N64 but this time you interact with set characters per book page rather than collect fruit. The recent Crafted World was repetitive too although I enjoyed it.
Still hoping for a Woolly World port eventually though.
So Yoshi's Story 2?
Never played a Yoshi game but this actually has my interest. Top 3 pick of the direct.
Really loving the art style! Who could be making it, Good-Feel?
Just like animated films, as games become more and more detailed and photo-realistic, I think we're reaching the point where the only trend upwards would be different artistic styles. Games like Sea of Remnants, Hi-Fi Rush and Bayonetta Origins are just examples of this potential trend, one that Nintendo could follow with F-Zero for example, all while still making CGI-like games.
I hope there's also a bit of Yoshi's Island difficulty there, even it it's the hard mode or something.
@abbyhitter
Great Art style, but with an awful forgettable trailer/unveil, topped with a cookie cutter narrorator that sounds like he's reading a book to a class of kindergartners. It should of been a trailer, not a frikkin childrens tutorial course.
"Now...You can pull...Flowers...from the grass, kids" lol
The best announcement for me. It looks gorgeous!
@NFrealinkling Yeah, that's the vibe I get from the trailer as well. Seems to be leaning hard into targeting kids with easy gameplay. A shame we can't get platformers like Woolly World anymore from Nintendo.
Visually this looks beautiful, gameplay looks boring as ***** though.
@topsekret yeah. I’m hoping it’s more like woolly world, but only time will tell
I was NOT expecting them to announce this, instead of the next 3D Mario platformer.
Hopefully that is being saved for a 2026 announcement...
I love the look, I'm just wondering how deep the gameplay is beyond what they showed.
Ok so enjoyed Woolley world and crafted I got 100%.
Maybe I’m being daft but was there actually any enemies in this game?
Looked like a world environmental puzzle solving game only to me.
