The first months of Switch 2's life have seen plenty of multiplatform games arrive on Nintendo's newest console — winners like Cyberpunk 2077, No Man's Sky, Apex Legends, and Yakuza 0 to name a handful — and its extra power affords devs the chance to bring newer, bigger, more ambitious games to the platform where ports simply weren't viable on the old Switch.
And yes, we've got things like Elden Ring, Persona 3 Reload, and Star Wars: Outlaws to look forward to before the year's out, but we're an insatiable bunch, always wanting more, more, moaaaaar. Honestly, we thought we'd see a few more big-name ports announced during the July Partner Showcase, and with zero announcements from Microsoft thus far, we're expecting plenty MORE to come throughout the rest of the year.
So here, Team NL presents our most wanted Switch 2 ports. We're not begging — eight years of 'Switch when?' have taken their toll on us, too. But hey, our machines are shiny and new and we're jonesing to play some of the following on them...
Alan Wake 2
If the first Alan Wake was a good game, then its sequel is a great one. It leans heavily into survival horror, but the way in which it weaves two parallel storylines is simply marvelous.
The visuals are stunning, so a bit of jiggery-pokery might be needed to get it running well, but as long as it’s not comparable to the visual dumpster fire that is Alan Wake Remastered on the Switch, then we’re all good. OR
Assassin's Creed Shadows
It seems almost inevitable that Assassin’s Creed will make its way to the Switch 2, so why not start with the latest mainline entry? I haven’t played Shadows yet, but it seems to be quite an ambitious experience; one that may well push the Switch 2 toward its limits.
I’m happy to give it a shot on Nintendo’s console, though! I love getting lost in a huge, authentic open world, and what Ubisoft has seemingly accomplished with this one is nothing short of extraordinary. OR
Baldur's Gate 3
The Game of the Year winner that brought D&D to the masses back in 2023 and stole my heart with its endless possibilities. The indecisive part of me restarted my file with a different character type at least five times back on PS5, and while I'm hesitant that Switch 2 could run Baldur's Gate 3 properly without some serious cutbacks, I'd be willing to make it a sixth on the hybrid.
You know, for science. JN
Blue Prince
Blue Prince is one of those games where you're best going in knowing as little as possible. It's a puzzler, it's a roguelike, it's a reason to fill up a notebook with some of the most indecipherable scribblings I've ever put to paper.
This one got under my skin and wouldn't let me go until I had solved some of its mysteries, and a Switch 2 port would only keep the madness spreading. JN
Call of Duty: Warzone
Which Call of Duty? Now that's a question for another time, but this series, now that Switch 2 can give us the framerates and online performance it requires, could be a big hit on Nintendo's console.
I'd love to be able to kick back with any of the older games for starters, especially Advanced Warfare (a.k.a the best one), but the real magic, would come in a super solid and slick port of Call of Duty Warzone. I love this multiplayer slice of CoD, it's the only way I get my fix of it these days, and in portable it could prove to be really hard to put down. Oh, and with gyro aiming? *swoon* PJ
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Clair Obscur is the video game of the moment; almost four months after its release, this French-developed turn-based RPG is still dominating conversations The combat is terrific and the music is phenomenal (please, just listen to the track Lumière), but what makes this game so special to me is its story. What it has to say about grief, family, trauma, and how everything is meticulously plotted and paced. Sure, there are plenty of rough edges, but this might be the best debut from a studio in… forever?
More people should play it, and it feels like a no-brainer to bring it to Switch 2. AH
Death Stranding (2)
Kojima loves the smell of his own and that winds me up, but there is an unhinged ambition to him that I admire even if I struggle to enjoy it. We're all better off for having him working in games, and having heard discussion around his latest WTFFest, I'm intrigued to experience it firsthand.
I'd take Death Stranding 2 given the choice between 1 and 2. I'm not sure I could manage both. GL
DOOM: The Dark Ages
We’ve got DOOM. We’ve got DOOM: Eternal. We’ve got all the old DOOMs. Let’s make it complete with a port of DOOM: The Dark Ages, hm? Given that the 2016 reboot and its 2020 sequel ran surprisingly well on the Switch, I think The Dark Ages could hold its own on the Switch 2.
And what a game! I know it’s proven to be quite divisive, but it’s my personal favourite of the modern trilogy. I love how heavy it feels compared to the zippy, floaty gameplay in Eternal, and I’ll never tire of ramming into a group of enemies with my shield. Delightfully gory stuff. OR
El Paso, Elsewhere
El Paso, Elsewhere launched on PC and Xbox in September 2023, so it's been a while. The devs, Strange Scaffold, have been busy since then with games like TMNT: Tactical Takedown — which is great, by the way — but perhaps they'd consider bringing this neo-noir homage to Max Payne (you know, with vampires) to Switch 2. GL
Fallout: New Vegas
Usually I'd go for the newest, biggest and slickest entry in a series for my dream port, but here it's Fallout: New Vegas that I'm plumping for, because it's the best one.Thanks.
Yes, it may not look the best - although they all look the same in my opinion, so that helps - but this spin-off has the best characters, writing and choice-driven shenanigans of the lot. Put it on Switch 2 and I will happily play it another couple of times, just to see all the stuff I missed back in ye olden days. PJ
Final Fantasy XIV
I know I could say Final Fantasy XVI, but the real, best modern Final Fantasy (that isn’t Rebirth, and that’s basically guaranteed to come to Switch 2) is a big ol’ MMORPG.
Final Fantasy XIV, particularly the Shadowbringers and Endwalker expansions, touches on all the things I love in storytelling. There’s also just so much to do too, with fun callbacks to the entire series, and so many jobs and crafters to play around with. I’d love to be able to play FFXIV in handheld, and getting it on this new console would be a dream. Put in the effort, and the journey's worth it. AH
Forza
As an occasional Forza fan (I played 2 to death, and I bought and enjoyed Horizon 4 quite a bit), I'd love to have the series arrive on Switch 2 and bolster a genre which had some bright lights on Switch 1 (hello, GRID and Burnout Paradise), but which were few and far between.
There's a gap in the library and Microsoft could fill it. That is assuming there's anybody left at any of their studios to work up the port. GL
Grand Theft Auto 6
I didn't like GTA 5 much. Sorry, I just really hated Trevor, so I never finished up the story. But, this doesn't mean I ain't excited for the new one, or that I'm not a huge fan of the series, because I am!
However, I am yearning for Rockstar's brand of madness, and I'm really excited about Grand Theft Auto 6. Now, imagine if they managed to shrink it all down and put it on the Switch 2 so I can play it whilst out and about in my actual hood. We've yet to learn all that much about the game, but I daresay it's gonna be quite the behemoth, and a looker to boot, so I'm gonna suggest we forget about the ray-tracing and it'll all be grand. I am so down with the technical side of things. PJ
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Right, listen. Halo’s going multiplatform. I know it’s not been officially confirmed yet, but it’s happening. With Forza Horizon 5 now on PlayStation and Gears of War shortly making the jump, Halo is seemingly the last bastion of major Xbox exclusives. But not for long.
Rumours have already proliferated indicating that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will soon come to Switch 2, and I reckon it would be the perfect fit. The system is leagues above what the Xbox One could manage, so theoretically every game could run at a slick 4K/60fps, or maybe even 120fps. I personally dive into the original Bungie trilogy at least once a year, so playing them on the go on the Switch 2 sounds like a dream come true. OR
Hi-Fi Rush
I’m not sure why no one has ever come up with a rhythm-action game before, but Hi-Fi Rush oozes charm, attitude, and personality. I love everything about the look of this game, from the bright aesthetic, the selection of music, to the rocking original compositions. So why on earth haven’t I played this yet?
I admit, it’s because I thought this would come to Switch, but after Tango Gameworks was shut down — then saved from the brink – I think we’re in for a shot on Switch 2. After all, we all deserve to spend time with 808 and Chai, right? AH
Hotel Barcelona
This collaboration between SWERY and Suda51 is one of the most exciting-looking games on any system in my book. I have no idea if the end result will live up to the trailer's showcasing of the creators' patented weirdness (and those side-on bits admittedly look a little rote), but I'd love to find out on a Switch. GL
Immortality
We can already play Sam Barlow's Telling Lies on Switch 2 via backwards compatibility, and if there's no chance of Sam Barlow's Her Story making a return, Sam Barlow's Immortality — a fascinating lost-footage mystery game that launched to great acclaim elsewhere in 2022 — would be a super sub.
I also think it's time for the Sid Meier-isation of Sam Barlow. Get your name on the game, Sam. GL
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
I expected this one to be a damp squib, given the initial trailers and Microsoft's run of luck the last couple of years, so it was a welcome surprise to hear that, actually, the first-person Indy game was good. Great, even! It's out on PS5 already, and Microsoft is keen to put games on any device that'll run 'em, and this would be the perfect present to enjoy over the holidays this year.
You know, maybe it makes too much sense. Hopefully I haven't jinxed it. GL
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
I didn't have time to check out Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 when it arrived on the beefier consoles earlier in the year, but good god, does it look like the kind of game that would swallow up all of my time.
A knight sim RPG where you have to actually practice skills to get good at them? It might be one of the most attention-intensive gaming experiences out there at the moment, so just imagine it on the go. Hey, the first one worked well enough on Switch! JN
Lumines Arise
Oh man, I love Lumines so much. If I’m out and about and I have my Vita or Switch on me, but I can’t think of anything to play, then I’ll often default to Lumines. It’s just such an immediately satisfying experience and you can make runs last for bloomin’ ages if you’re good enough.
With the team behind Tetris Effect creating this latest entry, I’ve got high hopes that Lumines Arise will be an absolute banger. Frankly, it belongs on the Switch, but you can bet that until that day comes, I’ll be rinsing it on the PS5. OR
Marvel Rivals
Free-to-play hero shooters are a dime a dozen these days, but it takes something special to last more than a couple of months. NetEase found that secret sauce with Marvel Rivals, and the only thing stopping me from playing with every waking moment, for a time, was that I wasn't near my PS5. Let me at it on the go, and those played hours will soon be racking up even more.
Actually, maybe it's best for me if this one doesn't come to Switch 2... JN
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls
So far, it seems Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is destined to be a PS5 and Windows exclusive. Heck, Sony even has a slick new fight stick lined up, which it’s clearly marketing in conjunction with the game.
But still, it looks ridiculously good… If this spells the end for Marvel vs. Capcom, then so be it. Arc System Works is a superb developer, and it’s made some truly spectacular fighting games. I need this on the Switch 2, Sony. Please. OR
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Of all the games I've spoken about here, I think Mass Effect Legendary Edition is one that will defo come to Switch 2, if circumstances at Bioware were better. It's just too important not to have on every system, goddamnit!
I'm sure a lot of folk have played the trilogy already, but it has a special place regardless, it's one of the all-time greats and we need to ensure the children know of the legendary Shepard and his (or her) sexy companions. I shouldn't have mentioned the sexy companions. I'm gonna have to download it again now. Please put it on Switch 2 so I can have it in my lap. PJ
Metaphor: ReFantazio
Atlus and Sega have shown a lot of love for the Switch 2 already, so there’s no way Metaphor: ReFantazio is skipping Nintendo. And in my eyes, this is the best game Atlus has ever made.
Why? Because it’s a distillation of everything Atlus has ever done. There’s Persona and MegaTen aplenty here, but also a heavy dose of Etrian Odyssey and a sprinkling of Catherine. But It’s also a refinement of the push-turn combat with a whole job system on top. Beyond all that, Metaphor actually has something to say and feels like the most poignant, relevant RPG in some time. AH
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139...
I'm relatively surprised we haven't already seen NieR Replicant (no, I'm not writing the full title out here) on Switch, so I'd like to think Square Enix will give Yoko Taro even more money by putting this sublime and messy predecessor on Switch 2.
NieR Replicant isn't always fun to play — that's kind of the point — but it is a beautifully, meticulously-crafted story with incredible characters and music. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll freak out, and you'll experience emotional gut punches unmatched in the medium. Plus you get to meet Kainé and Emil, two of the best video game characters ever. AH
Ninja Gaiden 4
Okay, so I don’t know for sure if Ninja Gaiden 4 is going to be worth playing. After all, PlatinumGames' track record hasn't always been perfect and, in my opinion, it dropped the ball somewhat with Bayonetta 3. Regardless, the team has supported the Switch so much over the years, it feels weird to not see Ninja Gaiden 4 on Switch 2 (granted, the decision likely lies solely with Koei Tecmo, but still).
It doesn’t look like the most graphically-intensive game imaginable, so I reckon PlatinumGames could just about make it work on Nintendo’s latest console. Nailing the frame rate would be key, though, so I’m happy to give them all the time in the world to get it right. OR
Red Dead Redemption 2
This surely has to be happening, right? Red Dead Redemption 2, as much as it can feel like a chore at times, is also just one of the bonafide bangers of our time. Even just for the hunting I'm in for the long haul, never mind the epic, sprawling, and almost relentlessly emotional western saga that sits alongside all the shooting chipmunks for their lustrous pelts.
Stick this one on Switch 2, in a decent port, which seems like something that should be more than feasible at this point in the game's life (there's even been rumours), and we're looking at one of the great handheld experiences out there. PJ
Resident Evils 7, 8, 9
Before you say anything, no, Resident Evil 7 and 8 are not on the Switch – Cloud Versions don’t count! So yes, proper native Switch 2 ports would do quite nicely, thank you very much. Given that both came out on the PS4 and Xbox One, I think the Switch 2 would be more than capable of running them adequately, but I’m not quite so confident about Resident Evil Requiem.
The upcoming ninth entry looks quite a bit more accomplished in terms of visuals, so I think Capcom would probably need to do a bit of tinkering to get it running on the Switch 2. It’s still early days yet, though – let’s see another trailer first. Oh, and while I’m at it, let’s get RE 2, 3, and 4 remakes over too. OR
Silent Hill 2 Remake
Bloober Team has experienced a lot of fluctuating appraisals over the years, but it’s safe to say that its remake of Team Silent and Konami’s Silent Hill 2 was pretty exceptional. It got almost everything right, from the story to the atmosphere, and even the gameplay was pretty solid too, minus some frustrating moments of repetition.
So yes, take all the time you need, Bloober Team, but let’s get Silent Hill 2 running on the Switch 2, please. Add in some gyro aiming, maybe some spooky HD Rumble effects, and you’re onto a winner. OR
System Shock
We recently saw the recent remaster of System Shock 2 on the Switch, but Nightdive Studio’s full-on remake of the first entry is another beast entirely. It’s got such a cool visual design, utilising pixel art textures but with modern lighting and effects. It’s like HD-2D but… not, y’know?
Anyway, it’s a truly exceptional title and I’d love to see it on the Switch 2 with gyro aiming and all the other stuff Nightdive is so good at. There are rumours that it could also be giving System Shock 2 the same treatment, so yeah, let’s get that too! OR
Vanquish
I will try to get Vanquish on every system I can, and I'll mention it in every list they let me, because I like to watch men chain smoke.
I also like to play really great action games, from the best action-game-makers in the biz no less, that let me slide around in a jazzy robot suit whilst blowing ribbons out of loads of crazy big mecha enemies. It's delicious. It's also exactly the sort of game that would have had the Switch 1 spitting flames out its exhaust port. Switch 2, though? It could take it. They could even add extra stuff. Mario-branded cigarettes, anyone?PJ
Yakuza: Like A Dragon
I’ve watched my husband play a fair number of Yakuza / Like A Dragon games at this point, but I’ve never properly played myself, despite loving Yakuza 0 and enjoying the Dondoko Island aspect of Infinite Wealth.
Truly, I’m waiting for an excuse, and it’s specifically for Yakuza: Like A Dragon (or Yakuza 7… it’s complicated) to come to Switch 2. You know I love turn-based RPGs and a good story, and this is the LaD with both. I just want to spend a good time with my Dragon Quest-loving Yakuza, Ichiban… AH

That would be 32 key cards, I'll check them out on PS5 thanks for the list.
I don't even like all those games above, nor even care about.
I never like AAA games like that.
I just want more 3rd party kids games for Switch 2 in game card, not game key card.
That's what I care about.
Otherwise, I will getting more 3rd party kids games on PS5 instead.
Great list, but it's missing one epic game which has a good chance...Gears of War!!!
some great choices!!! if sony continues to be happily giving nintendo their business, spider man series would be a dream on switch 2.
gta 6 and rdr2 on switch 2 would absolutely DESTROY the industry though.
I definitely don't need even more games to play as I already have more than enough as is, but of course the more the better not only for me personally (arguably against my better judgement considering the abovementioned, but still), but also for those interested in games still not on Switch 2 to play them in handheld and/or for the first time - anyway, overall great list, fingers crossed most if not all these will eventually come to the system, in particular and also for the poll Baldur's Gate 3, Clair Obscur, any or even better all HoYoverse, Hi-Fi Rush and Metaphor for me!
Thank you for adding Infinity Nikki; that's my number one wish.
I would definitely get Baldur's Gate 3.
I'm a little surprised Stellar Blade didn't make the list
Resident Evil 7, 8, and 9 please!!!
Also the remakes of 2, 3, and 4.
Hopefully they do come to Switch 2.
Marvel Tokon is probably the most unlikely since it’s Sony owned despite being developed by Arc Sys
DS2 I guess too but atleast DS1 got ported to Xbox.
Dark Souls Trilogy!
I'm playing Alan Wake Remastered on my Switch Lite right now and it's certainly not a "visual dumpster fire" by any means.
Here’s my wish list
Monster hunter wilds?
Monster hunter worlds+ice?
Monster hunter Switch 2 exclusive?
Monster hunter remake of tri or frontier?
@HugoGED Ok that's gold I'll give you that one
Go finish GTA5... Trevor is perfect as is.
Eat ***** Die
Halo. I'm not a huge FPS guy, but I think that has more the direction they went, with multiplayer taking the focus or being bloody and gory. Clean single-player campaigns with smooth gameplay is all I want and having Halo on a Nintendo handheld (only gaming I bother with now) would please me greatly.
I have a folder on my steam deck for the main games I play on there that I'd like on Switch, now Switch 2. It's tempting to say money being left on the table but 3rd party sales on Switch often underperform...anyway:
Titanfall 2
Dead Space (old and new)
Half Life 1 & 2 (+ep 2+)
Shadow Complex
Enslaved
Jedi Fallen Order
GTA IV and V
CoD MW remasters
Tales of arise
The only one of these games that matters (and arguably the only game that matters at all) is Super Hexagon!
The lack of GTA IV, Phasmophobia, NASCAR 25 (it looks cool, and I wouldn't mind being able to play it whereever I want) and Batman Arkham Origins hurts my soul, but this is a rather solid list despite that!! I'd be one of the first in line to get SH2 on NS2!!!!!
@sketchturner Yes, yes it is. The whole game is constantly in 'lens smeared with vazeline' mode during night levels.
Not having played many of them, from these options my only choices would be Lumines Arise, Marvel Tokon and Rare Replay. If I could, I'd add Sea of Thieves.
Also, Papers, Please...ummm...please.
EDIT: Other games that came to my mind: The Murder of Sonic The Hedgehog, Amanda The Adventurer 2, Duck Season, Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition (yes, I want to play as Heihachi dressed like Mario again), Shinkanzen 0 and a few of Chilla's Art horror games, Hatch.
I'd also say Mouse: P.I. for Hire but I believe that game was confirmed for Switch 1 and teased for Switch 2. And just today they confirmed Bad Cheese for both Switches.
I would gladly see them upgrade Alan Wake 1 to Switch 2 first.
As for other games, I'd go for AW2, RE2R, Oblivion Remastered, Blood: Fresh Supply, all the Shadow Warrior games, Divinity 2KS.
Three words:
BALDURS
GATE
THREE
I find it odd to be excited for a lot of these games, given their ports would probably look pretty rough. And be more expensive. And (for those who care) not be on physical media.
All the Xbox big hitters-Forza Horizon/Gears/Halo (FH5, MCC and Infinite should run fine like they did on Xbox One)
Doom The Dark Ages
Fallout 3 and 4
RDR2
Mass Effect is a great shout
Desperados 3 (Mouse/touch screen could be a benefit)
All the resident Evil remakes
Dispatch (and whatever springs from the Critical Role/AdHoc partnership) and Pure Pool Pro. VooFoo says the lack of a devkit means the latter isn't coming to NS2, so the Big N needs to start getting them out there tout suite - or if they're not careful they're gonna wind up kneecapping their New Shiny, already holding it back when it's barely out the gate.
Kinda surprised that Diablo 4 wasn't mentioned considering how well the others did on Switch, but it's hard to include everything. Also, Digimon Story Time Stranger, which I'm sure that we'll see announced soon.
GTA6, really...?? No way Switch 2 can run that game.
Anyway, I want most of the games in that list, indeed, especially Baldur's Gate 3, Expedition 33, Metaphor, RDR 2, Silent Hill 2 remake and the Like a Dragon saga.
Apart form those, I also want:
-Kingdom Hearts (no cloud)
-Dragon's Dogma 2
-Monster Hunter World
-Devil May Cry V
-Resident Evil remakes
So pretty much all Capcom releases lol.
Somewhat surprised RDR2 hasn’t been announced for Switch 2 yet. In addition to New Vegas, Fallout 3 & 4 ports to the console would probably sell well. Baldur’s Gate 3 on the go would be amazing to have.
Indiana Jones and Marvel Tokon are my biggest wants here.
Only way GTA 6 is running on the Switch 2 is if they make a lego version, or give it the Final Fantasy 15 pocket treatment.
If BG3 and Metaphor got announced for S2 I would buy it immediately. It would be the perfect handheld experience.
My greatest desire is digimon story time stranger for Switch 2
My three whishlist titles got 2.3% combined in the poll. 😂 But I would really love to see Alan Wake 2, Lumines Arise and System Shock Remake, please.
Rare reply would be cool but I’ll get the rare collection on Evercade.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle above all.
Then the Forza series, Alan Wake 2, Silent Hill 2 Remake, Final Fantasy XIV, System Shock remake and finally a proper port of the Resident Evil games that were released as cloud editions such as Biohazard, Village and Requiem, but also the remakes of 2 & 3.
Nope, no cloud versions will ever run on my Switch 2, I didn't buy it just for the sake of owning an expensive client.
I'm pretty sure the rumor of the MCC coming to anything else was wrong, everything seems to point to a Remake of Halo CE now.
Oh for Pete's sake, if the Switch 2 can run Cyberpunk 2077, it can run all of those games. Can people stop with the "Can the Switch 2 run it?" Crap. The Switch 2 is a mini PS5, it may not have some of the specs, but it has DLSS, VRR and modern architecture that makes it capable of running ALL of these games.
Especially BG3, That isn't no technology pushing game. Give me a break.
Lumines Arise I feel would have to be coming to Switch 2 at some point. I know the series has lots of legacy with PlayStation, but lets face it with the current environment with what's successful on PS5 it kinda needs a Switch 2 version. I do also hope that Enhance's other most recent title Humanity comes over because that can run on a PS4 so it would have to work well on Switch 2, plus mouse mode for it would be very cool to have since it's a VR title that uses motion pointing for gameplay
My personal picks would be Metaphor, Genshin, COD, and Doom!
I’m just waiting on the announcement of the new Professional Baseball Spirts and/or Pro Yakyuu Famista. Those will be outstanding on Switch 2!
Lies Of P is one of the very best games that I have played in the last decade, and I really hope that it comes to Switch 2.
Nice list!
I really want the latest Yakuza like a dragon game.
Visions of Mana.
@HugoGED thats cool you can get them all physical for PS5!
To be honest I don’t buy a Nintendo system for the usual western triple A gumph. Give me first party, Ace Attorney, Dragon Quest, Mega Man, Bayonetta, Okami 2, and another Suikoden and I’ll be happy.
Resident Evil 4 remake should be on that list, alone because the OG was on a Nintendo console first. Other than that.. nah, I have a Steam Deck and already have the few game on the list I want.
If BG3 comes out on Switch 2 I might consider buying one.
I want all the Resident Evil.
All of it!
Death Stranding could happen, but I want Metaphor since everyone seemed to love that game. Also, where is the new Tales game? Maybe Nintendo wanted to wait until the main Direct in September to show that off...One can only hope.
Dead Space (Remake)
Thing is all these games can be played on PS5 and Xbox Series much better.
Plus most of the PS5 versions are on the disc.
As are many of the Xbox ones.
Plus , yes ai like the word Plus.
Plus these games will be cheaper on the other systems by a long shot by the time any of these came out. In fact a lot of them can be got with huge discounts.
Then there's the whole Game Key debacle . How many of these will be Game Keys. I aint buying those at full price. In fact any game on Game Key has a value to me of around £15-£20 .
So why don't all these developers just create decent games on a 64gb card. which utilise the Switch 2 for what it is.
If I want to play any of the above games, I'll play on my Xbox or my PS5 when i get one before Christmas.
yeah thee above are not gonna make the Switch 2 any better.
I don't care if they are key cards or digital only. I just want this whole list of games to come over, maybe I would also love to see NHL
I only bought a Switch 2 to play Nintendo games and every Picross game Jupiter makes until the entropic heat death of the universe, so I'm personally not actively hoping to see any of the games mentioned come to the platform. However, more games should be available in more places so that people have more of a choice, so: all of them.
I'm all down to buy Death Stranding a third time. I adored that game, and DS2 is even better.
Pikmin 5.
Luigis Mansion 4.
Paper Mario The Next Chapter
For launching new hardware recently Nintendo, 1 of tye biggest gaming devs in the world seems to have forgotten to make games for it. Or at least tell us about them.🤪
If you want to play most of the above games buy a PS5, you can probably find it easier and cheaper than a Switch 2, and the games will probably run and look better on it. What are we even doing here?
If you want games on a cheap(er) $250 Switch 2 Lite to just play portably let's wait until they announce that first. Otherwise, if you can afford the Switch 2 versions of 5 games on that list, you can probably afford PS5 and the games on that console as you'll be saving money b/c PS5 games actually go on sale.
Better yet, buy a PS5 and play Infinity Nikki andvtye Hoyoverse games for free. Think of all the money you'll save.😎
Nahhh you missed Sea of Thieves …
I voted something else: Windwaker HD
Agree with @Yoshi3 there, Sea of Thieves would be great.
But also for me, the Shenmue games. Monkey Islands and Tenchu 3.
I only want 1st party games on Switch 2 since 3rd party games are all on Game-Key Cards.
@darkswabber Since Helldivers 2 is coming to Xbox, and Marvel Token is a live service game, it seems almost inevitable that it will make the jump to other platforms in the future. I think we'll see Marvel Tokon come to Xbox and Switch 2 in 2027
@MrGawain This. If people are interested in those games, most don't wait a decade or longer for them to come to a Nintendo system. Switch & Switch 2 are a little different with the portability factor, but it's still a pretty small group still.
You can already play every final fantasy from the first up to XII (minus XI, which is an MMO), so why not:
It would be great to have an upgrade for Dark Souls Remastered since the switch version was the least performant and least "remastered" compared to the original of all the platforms it was released on.
I bought the rog ally X this winter. Bought the switch 2 at release. Haven’t touched my ROG since. If they put RDR2 on the switch 2 I may never touch the ROG again 🤣
Blue prince is the only one I really want. Haven't played it yet and it looks like something that suits the switch.
Maybe master chief collection too, they can keep infinite though.
Might as well get a ps5 if you want play these games I bought a switch 2 for nintendos exclusives I have no intention of playing any multi platform games on the system at all there's no way I want play games at 30 fps either saying that it's worth it just for nintendos incredible exclusives
StarCraft 1 + 2
Diablo 4
Final Fantasy 16
Been there, done that with almost all of these games. I’d like some new games instead?
@Mana_Knight ah, I see you are a man of mana as well
Forget It! Switch 2 will fail so bad most of these games, If any, won't ever reach the platform.
Been hoping for BG3 and the Fallout series, even tho I own em on Steam Deck, would totally buy again on Switch. Voted for all the ones I would buy instantly - BG3, Fallout, Nier, RDR2, Mass Effect, KCD2, Clair Obscur and Metaphor.
Solid list. Aside from adding Fallout 3, FO4, Oblivion, and the Dragon Age series, I couldn’t think of much more that could complete the experience..:. MGS4&5 maybe, and Fable series….
FTL is one of my favorite games of all time. I wish there was more.
Removed - off-topic
I don't understand why we haven't seen Fallout and Mass Effect on Switch 1 already. Those would be a safe bet on Switch 2.
Also really looking forward to playing the older/better Halo games in the series on the Switch.
I just want Lufia II, is that too much to ask 😢
Having some horror games to play, like Resident Evil and Silent Hill would be awesome. Red Dead and Fallout would be really neat, and I would certaintly pick them up if they did that. Marvel Rivals would be great, although I'm sure they'd have to cut the graphics down some so it can run fine in handheld mode.
But the biggest one I'd love to see is Halo. One of the only shooter games I've been a fan of. Fortnite and COD just aren't nearly as good
A good list, and most seem feasible.
Absolutely zero interest for ports of games already released on other platforms, especially in the form of full price game key cards.
Pretty much anything on this list that is ps4/xbone era and older has a very good chance of showing up, and maybe a handful of current gen games. Kind of like the switch 1 getting ps3/xb360 games with a few newer titles(switcher iii, nier automata, hogwarts), albeit a little ugly.
The continuing absence of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on any Nintendo system is a crime against humanity.
I’d also love to get PS4 era titles like the Shadow of Mordor games, or Mad Max.
But fun list! Switch/S2 are basically my only modern consoles, so port away! Hopefully we’ll get to cross some of these titles off the list over time.
A good bunch of these games can run fine enough on Switch 1 – Papers, Please, Vanquish, Rare Replay, FTL: Faster Than Light, The Witness, Super Hexagon... Super Hexagon can run on old smartphones just fine, lol. I've played it on a pathetically weak and cheap Android smartphone back in 2017, and it was running without any issues.
It's very annoying how game developers just ignored Switch 1.
GTA V Wii U port was in plans before being cancelled. Switch 1 surely can run GTA V. And yet... We got just L.A. Noire port, Red Dead Redemption port, and poor GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas demasters.
Path of Exile 2, day and date with the other F2P versions (2026?). But could poor Switch 2 run this with reasonable performance?
Since it seems all but certain we'll get the full FF7R trilogy on Switch 2, this makes it easy for me.
Metaphor, Marvel Rivals, Expedition 33, Doom, Final Fantasy XIV, Baldur's Gate 3, NieR, Indiana Jones, Halo, Hi-Fi Rush... and a NON-CLOUD KINGDOM HEARTS TRILOGY as my own little add.
@Dan1283 I just saw this and I wonder if other people are like me. I bought the switch for exclusives. I looked earlier this week and I have about 100 games now and about 80 of those are remasters. Kinda seems like it's better at that because I didn't like go out of my way to make that happen
Would have love to had seen the Half-Life series back on switch 1.. defo welcome on Switch 2 along with Gears of War(s) , God of War(s), RDR2 and even tho I found Spiderman repetitive it would prob do well on Switch2
How can you skip Metal Gear Solid Delta? I’d rather have that than Death Stranding.
@HugoGED Well said. And as for Fallout New Vegas?! Play that on PS3!
Factorio Space Age expansion with added mouse support would be lush.
I just really, like REALLY, want Final Fantasy XV on the switch 2! Like, NOW. Oh and Lufia 2 for the SNES library. Not that that's specifically switch 2, but, just putting it out there! 😊
I'd like to see a lot of these show up on the Switch 2, but since I can ONLY pick 5....
@Anti-Matter Do you own a Switch 2 or have any intention of getting one in the future?
I get it that you like games aimed at children and are happy to play them on your PS5 but I don't really understand why you want to constantly share that here if you have no interest in the latest Nintendo console.
NHL. There hasn’t been a decent handheld hockey game since, like, NHL 06 on the PSP.
If EA doesn’t want to give us a port, then I’d love to see someone do something akin to a hockey version of the Super Mega Baseball series. Super Mega Hockey is a day 1 purchase for me….
@michellelynn0976 Many of these games are significantly more demanding than Cyberpunk, and Switch is between a PS4 Pro and XSS in power, far below a PS5.
Marvel Rivals would be great, since it is free, and it has some of my favorite characters, AND it looks fun.
I know nothing about HiFi Rush, but I would love to check it out for the art style alone!
I just heard about Blue Prince yesterday, and it sounds intriguing. I'd be down!
E33 is getting rave reviews everywhere, and I wanna play it, so please! Yes!
I love the Portal games, and I heard that the HalfLife series is in the same universe? So I would buy all of them day one, for that reason alone!
@Aki77 i think he is also upset that the vast majority of third party games at the moment are key cards..that is the reason i am not buying a switch 2 until the key card situation is solved that will allow more third party games to be on physical carts.
@KITG_GROUP @Dan1283
This was said about PS4/XB1 ports to the Switch 1 and yet there was enough of a market to justify tons of them. Turns out portability is a significant selling point to many people.
@Misima
I don’t think Nintendo ‘needs to realise’ anything with regards to prices v Steam. The same criticisms existed with regard to Switch 1 prices v Steam and yet it was hugely successful and profitable.
@Aki77
I don't have Switch 2 machine yet and not thinking to get the machine right now until I see the revision for the machine with better battery life and more 3rd party kids games on Switch with game card like Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar, Tamagotchi Plaza, Fantasy Life I. It will take several years later.
I do still have interest with Nintendo games but I mostly prefer the 3rd party games than 1st party Nintendo games and when talking about 3rd party games, if Switch 1 / 2 doesn't even look better than the other console version, I will pick the PS5 version instead to get better performance games.
I don't blindly defend Nintendo for whatever they did. I don't sugarcoat them either.
If Nintendo did something wrong like game key card issue, I will give them critique and not considering their games if I found something unacceptable for me as customer.
@rjejr
No point comparing a portable to a Home system. Switch 1 has well and truly established that now.
Anything apart from assassins creed shadows (really bad game)
Bloons Tower Defense 6 although I imagine a BTD7 isn't too far away right? Also a friend of mine said Boom Blox with gyro controls and that sounds really fun.
Maybe it's just a personal thing, but I'm kind of through with the novelty of playing high-end games on a handheld, and I'd rather play uncompromised versions of them on a platform like the PS5. In terms of third-party games, I'm much more interested in them producing Switch 2 editions of some of the more regrettable Switch ports. I don't like THPS3+4 nearly as much as THPS1+2, but in the state that the ports currently exist as, I'm much more inclined to play the newer game on Switch 2.
I have most, if not all these games on my Steam Deck and most run fine. I hope any of these games get ported for people only with a Switch 2.
That’s quite a list and I’d check out a few of them. Problem is a keycard would be a deal breaker and I’d have to assume they’d all come that way.
The only ones I would be desperate for are Clair Obscure & Metaphor.
Would love to also see Granblue Fantasy Relink, surprised that wasn't mentioned.
Top of my list are the Kingdom Hearts game proper. Not the crappy cloud versions.
Forza 5 would be cool as would the Mass Effect trilogy. I imagine if the rumored GTA4 port/remaster happens a S2 version would be good. I'm surprised there wasn't a version of GTA5 released on the original Switch since it started life as a PS3/360 game. Even if it had to forgo multi-player. If it got an S2 port under the same circumstances it would still be cool.
RDR2 im playing on Xbox currently. Great game but I don't know if I'd buy it again but I know others would.
All that Sony and Microsoft garbage, and you don't even bother to include the last GOOD ONE (until Astro Bot) Gravity Rush!? But you put in the Communist-Disney Overwatch game. Great. Fantastic.
Putting aside how dogmatically offended I am to have too look at THAT, my answer of these options would be System Shock because Thanks, Wade.
I'm a little surprised that Stellar Blade wasn't included in this list. That's one I'd love to take on the go. Same with Genshin Impact. I mean, there's quite a few games from other consoles that I would love to see come to Switch 2, but those are the two big ones for me right now.
This Switch third-party port begging list keeps getting bigger and bigger with each passing year.
32 only ? i have over 100 are still waiting
What has happened to humanity that this is the only kind of games people are interested in now? Or is it just NintendoLife? The ones that make bestseller lists for actual sales are vastly different than these games, so something here doesn’t add up.
@Razzy Uh no. The Switch 2 is way above a PS4 and it's a little above a Series S. Lol More demanding than Cyberpunk? No they aren't.
At this point just buy a playstation lol, more than half of these would absolutely look and run worse AND would be digital only on Switch 2. No thanks
Claire Obscure please! I keep hearing so many good things about it.
Looks like the writer of this article should really buy a PS5.
@KITG_GROUP Most people don't own multiple gaming platforms. I stick with Nintendo for their exclusives, and if a port looks fun and has decent performance, I won't mind that the buttons on a character's shirt are hexagons instead of circles. Prices for ports usually drop to match other platforms pretty quickly too. The key cards are a whole other mess, but there's no need to throw out the proper physical games along with the bad ones.
@Anachronism a lot of people do indeed game on multiple platforms..all the switch youtubers also play games on ps and xbox..
Star Ocean, Visions of Mana, Tales of Arise. We need more Jrpgs.
Seeing how I’m playing only on Steam Deck and Switch 2 I’d love any port that doesn’t run well on the Deck right now. Clair Obscur is the most obvious example. Ninja Gaiden looks cool. Voted for Hi-Fi Rush even though I beat it because it’s fantastic.
@Anachronism This is what some people really don't seem to grasp. Not everyone has the space or money to invest in buying multiple consoles for the sake of a few games. As for myself, I could buy more than Nintendo, but it just doesn't interest me.
@Moistnado @Kingy
Wait, they do a portable PS5? Exciting!
@michellelynn0976
Little above Series S? I think you meant below.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/07/switch-port-experts-share-thoughts-about-switch-2s-raw-performance
@electrolite77 Well, no. A little above. It's the DLSS, and VRR, plus the Switch 2 has 2G GB more of ram.
They said raw numbers, not counting the DLSS and VRR. Street Fighter 6 on the Switch 2 looks better than the Series S version. So does Cyberpunk, and WWE 2K. Psst. BTW, Cyberpunk, SF6 and WWE are based on the PS5 versions.
@electrolite77 So, the Switch 2 is a little bit above a Series S. I apologize for sounding a bit harsh. But, Switch 2 is more powerful than people realize.
https://www.vice.com/en/article/cyberpunk-2077-on-switch-2-is-a-wildly-incredible-achievement-review/#:~:text=Gaming-,'Cyberpunk%202077'%20on%20Switch%202%20Is%20a%20Wildly%20Incredible%20Achievement,can%20go%20anywhere%20you%20can.&text=I've%20got%20something%20like,par%20with%20the%20other%20versions.
For all the people saying "these games run better on PS5 anyway": can you play the PS5 versions of them on the go while traveling, while commuting, in your bed, etc? Maybe it's not for you, but for many of us portability (plus first-party Nintendo games) is the main appeal of the Switch when compared to other consoles. I've already played games like Mass Effect and Baldur's Gate 3 on my tabletop PC, but I'd still buy ports of them for the Switch 2 because it would awesome to play them again on the go.
I don't want to play these games on a "sat on your keister in one room" PS5 console. Hybrid gaming all the way for me.
I'm very interested in about 60% of these games for Switch2
@Moistnado Is "the writer" rich?
Why would the Switch spir flames with Vanquish? It's a ps360 game, for god's sake
I would like to see geometry wars come to switch 1/2. The older ones and if possible a new one.
@electrolite77 You want portable get a steam deck. It costs the same and plays every game on here plus the rest of steam's library plus basically everything else with emulators.
Some decent picks, mixed with never-gonna-happen & total garbage.
Pretty standard, I guess.
@Zeebor15 Are you okay? Do you need to sit down?
I would love to play shadow of the colossus - so bring that back like portal. Otherwise I’m very into doom right now, plays pretty good on switch 2, so give me an impossible dark ages port. And I’ll take Indiana Jones just because I’m an 80s/90s kid at heart
@johnedwin I feel like I really shouldn't have to explain this, but youtubers are not normal people. You might as well point at rock stars as proof that it's normal to own thousands of dollars of musical equipment.
@UltimateOtaku91
I would be surprised if GTA 6 came to Switch 2, mainly due to the estimated file size. They would have to take the Xbox Series S settings down a notch, and it would be >> 100 GB filling up most of the base storage. That being said, by the time the game launches, if you have 15-20 million Switch 2s in the wild versus 30 million something Xbox Series, they might see an additional market worth tapping into. If the eventual "minimum" PC settings is comparable to Switch 2, then why not?
The fact that Switch 2 can approach Xbox Series S (which will likely be supported with cross-gen until at least 2030), makes almost any current game at least possible (or an "impossible" port as it were) with the right resources and motivation -> it's all about if the $ coming in vs out is worth it to the developers.
I have a Series S hooked up to my 85" Sony TV, and maybe I'm old with poor vision, or not enough of a GPU snob, but I have never had issue with the quality. I hope they keep supporting that level of graphics for many years. I'm not looking to spend thousands every couple of years to improve my setup.
@LEGEND_MARIOID the games will likely be cheaper on a PS5.
I have a PS5 for the big screen gaming but I love playing in handheld mode. I have Portal in addition to Switch but it ties me down to having to have a connection for streaming. Switch 2 would be perfect to bring those PS5 (or Xbox) games on the go. And before someone says Steam Deck, not interested in that.
@Moistnado You're assuming "the writer" and many others here have multiple consoles. Even though I'm an avid gamer, I only justify consoles not for just my sole self, but that others in the household play and get a lot out of. PS4 & Switch consoles - yeah. PS5 and Steamdeck - nope. I therefore won't fork out for the latter (hardware). Barely any talk of hardware costs when costs of gaming are mentioned. Cost o'living, running your own family house financially, older kids busy doing degrees etc etc
@Anachronism youtube switch content creators are as dedicated to nintendo as any gamer possible. so they are real i been watching many for years..
What i read is These Nintendo F A N S ( Pretend is real FANS ) So they can judge diffrent taste Player who are like looking foward third party Game coming to switch 2
I'm surprised to find out that Metaphor Refantazio is not on Switch already. This games feels like it's made for Switch lol.
@electrolite77 with the Switch 1 , games where priced accordingly. But with these Switch 2 releases, which come out at £60 odd pounds providing there on the actual cart is a substantial amount more then many of these games actually sold at launch on other platforms.
Plus regardless of the title. many games on the OG Switch are much more expensive to buy then there counterparts on other platforms. Even used.
And in many cases you geta inferior version.
Its different if the game is launched the same time as other platforms.
@johnedwin That's not the point. Youtubers and streamers are the only people so obsessed with playing games that they managed to turn it into a job. They're the type of superfans who spend the most time and money on games, so obviously they're way more likely to have multiple consoles than some kid with a $5 allowance or regular adults who might not have time for even one game a month.
Removed - flaming/arguing
I would love some Metal Gear Solid games, surprised the series isn't mentioned here.
@LEGEND_MARIOID no, I didn't assume they had multiple consoles. All I was saying is that a person that wants to play so many PS5 games would benefit from buying the machine that plays them.
@Anachronism most do not do it for a living only a small percentage do..
At this point for RgG games I just need 5 and Infinite Wealth. I would like the current soul calibur but since 2 is still my favorite and is on switch 2 I’m good. I would like to see more Bethesda games as they are fun for portable. I’m gonna wait out BG3 for another 3 years before I pick it up on PC. Other than that I’m looking at new games and release parity at this point. After Ghost of Yotei I am going back to the “Not on Nintendo, Not in my house” method and winding down my multiplats. Nintendo/PC will see me through the rest of my gaming days. My series x and ps5 library is so small that it no longer warrants buying their successors.
@DonutPie Metal Gear Solid Master collection Vol 1 is on Switch. There is no Vol 2. So as of right now Switch players have access to the multiplat rerelease same as other platforms.
Baldur's Gate & Metaphor for sure. Wasn't Forza 5 already confirmed at one point?
And shouldn't Norco come out for Switch 1?
@johnedwin And how many unpopular youtubers do you watch? Any of them managing 100k views a week are fully capable of making a living off their channel, especially if they have a patreon, sponsors, and merch on top of their regular ad revenue.
Even those who don't manage that are still superfans for even trying. People who spend their spare time talking about games on top of playing them rather than dedicating it to other entertainment or their social lives are already way more invested than the average player. Heck, even people like us who care enough to keep up with and comment on gaming news are a tiny minority of dedicated fans, and the people actually making content are a tiny minority within that tiny minority. The fact is they're just not a good barometer for the average person's gaming habits, so acting like most people have another console or gaming PC, or that most people would even notice the graphical differences without a direct comparison, is severely misguided.
@Moistnado OK.
Which then you'd have to factor in the very large single cost of buying the PS5 console into your decision making.
Spirit of the North 2
What an absolutely terrible list of overhyped and average at best third-party ports and blatant shovelware, with the exception of maybe 2-3 titles. I mean, how about wanting some actual new Nintendo goodness instead of that junk that can be easily played elsewhere if need be??
i think the spiderman games would eb a good fit
