Upcoming Switch 2 games

The Nintendo Switch 2 has kicked off it's first year in style, With Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza leading the charge, the Big N still has many of its tentpole franchises jumping onto the console, with Kirby Air Riders, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Metroid Prime 4 all on the horizon.

Third parties and indies have also been delivering some solid ports to the new console; Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, Star Wars Outlaws, and Hollow Knight: Silksong have show the system's strengths (and variety), and things aren't slowing down in 2026, either.

As we approach a new year, we've got a ton of games to look forward to. But 2025 is still stuffed full of quality as well. So let's have a look at the games we're most excited to play on Switch 2.

Reminder, this isn't a list of every single game coming to the new console — just the cream of the crop. You can check out our complete Switch 2 game list for every single game coming to the console, or have a glimpse at our Switch 1 list for a few cross-gen titles that may be missing here.

Switch 2 Upcoming Games

Hades II - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2)

Launch date: 25th September 2025

Physical?: Yep, on 20th November

Hades is one of our all-time favourite Switch games, so when Supergiant Games announced its first-ever sequel in Hades II, we were thrilled. Given, we'd probably buy anything Supergiant released, as they're four for four in fantastic games.

Hades II is a huge expansion on the first game, with new weapons, gameplay styles, and a completely new route to take. It's been in early access since May 2024, but we won't spoilt anything else ahead of the full release (and Switch and Switch 2 timed exclusivity).

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2)

Launch date: 30th September 2025

Physical?: Potentially a download code

This one's been bubbling in the rumour mill for a while, but we finally know when one of the greatest tactical RPGs is getting a remaster, and it's coming to both Switch 1 and Switch 2.

The original PS1 version is also part of the package, but with the remaster, you'll be getting balance tweaks, new voice acting, updated visuals, and more. We promise, this is a special video game, and we can't wait to replay it. Worth noting that the Switch 2 version is a code in a box, but the Switch 1 version will get a free Switch 2 upgrade. Go that route, instead.

Little Nightmares III (Switch 2)

Launch date: 10th October 2025

Physical?: Not confirmed, but possibly all on the cartridge

Here's another game we've been waiting for for a while, and we've even got confirmation it's coming to Switch 2. Little Nightmares III continues the horror puzzler series with two new characters, and you can go solo or co-op with a friend offline and online.

We expect to be spooked as we work through Nowhere and the Spiral, so we'll definitely be bringing a buddy along.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition (Switch 2)

Launch date: 16th October 2025

Physical?: Yes!

We're not quite ready to usher in the next generation of Pokémon yet, but Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Switch 2 Edition should give us an insight into just how the series will look and feel on the new console.

Taking us to a developing Lumiose City in Kalos, Legends: Z-A seems to be putting a heavy emphasis on battle, with trainer challenges and a new "active" twist on the turn-based combat. Mega Evolutions make a return too. If previous Pokémon games on Switch are anything to go by, the Switch 2 version will be the way to play the game.

Persona 3 Reload (Switch 2)

Launch date: 23rd October 2025

Physical?: Game-Key Card

Who wants more Persona on Switch? How about Switch 2? Well, 2024's remake of Persona 3, Persona 3 Reload, is coming later this year to the new console, and what better way to play through an excellent, albeit long, RPG than on the go?

Reload adds in new cutscenes, a refined battle system, an updated Tartarus, refreshed Social Links, and tons more. Whether the Episode Aegis DLC is included remains to be seen.

Two Point Museum (Switch 2)

Launch date: 28th October 2025

Physical?: TBC

As big fans of Two Point Hospital and Campus, we were a bit gutted to not be getting Museum when it launched on other consoles earlier this year. Fortunately, there's a good reason — it's coming to Switch 2.

Turns out, managing a museum is pretty tough; you can run a specific themed museum, or build your own massive one. Make your visitors happy and curate the perfect set of attractions later this year.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (Switch 2)

Launch date: 30th October 2025

Physical?: Game-Key Card (and no free upgrade, either)

We're very happy to see that Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will be making the cross-gen leap; less happy about the Game-Key Card thing, but hey. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake certainly took a bit of a hit on Switch, but the new console should hopefully bring the first two games up to standard.

Anyway, it looks like Dragon Quest I & II are getting more than a few changes on top of the upgraded visuals, and we'll have to wait and see what the reward is once we've beaten all three games. The Zenethian trilogy? One can hope...

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection (Switch 2)

Launch date: 30th October 2025

Physical?: Yes! It's getting a physical in December 2025

Here's something we didn't see coming — a collection (ahem, kollection) of Mortal Kombat classics all in one place, beautifully curated by the experts at Digital Eclipse. appropriately named Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, this is a must for fighting game fans.

So far, we know the four classics (plus Ultimate 3) and three GBA games are making the cut, but more titles will be revealed later down the line. With Mortal Kombat 1 ending a little earlier than most expected, it's time to look back at the history of one of the very best fighting game franchises.

Mina the Hollower (Switch 2)

Launch date: 31st October 2025

Physical?: Unlikely until after release

Oh, hello there? A Switch 2 version for Mina the Hollower? Don't mind if we do.

Yacht Club Games' take on the GBC top-down Zelda formula looks absolutely brilliant, with gorgeous 8-bit-esque visuals — just like Shovel Knight. This looks like the perfect Halloween game, so thank goodness for that release date!

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment (Switch 2)

Launch date: 6th November 2025

Physical?: Of course!

If Breath of the Wild gets a Hyrule Warriors prequel, then it only makes sense that Tears of the Kingdom gets one too. Especially when we have so many questions about the Imprisoning War.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will hopefully give us some of the answers we want alongside incredibly fun Musou gameplay and — fingers crossed — smooth and snappy visuals. Zelda is taking the lead once again, and we couldn't be happier.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Switch 2)

Launch date: 13th November 2025

Physical?: TBC

If you're itching to get back to Kamurocho, especially after the excellent Yakuza 0, then Yakuza Kiwami 2 should be your next destination.

Taking place shortly after Yakuza Kiwami, this port features all of the bells and whistles you'll find on PS4, just in portable form. Plus, Kiwami 1 is also coming to Switch 2, and you can upgrade your Switch 1 release for a small price when it launches the same day as its sequel.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO (Switch 2)

Launch date: 14th November 2025

Physical?: Game-Key Card

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero hit consoles late last year, and the Switch 2 port follows later in 2025. As the latest entry in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, this one ups the chaos and the numbers exponentially.

There's over 180 playable characters, an Episode mode that lets you relive the anime through eight different perspectives, motion controls, and a custom battle mode. This one reviewed pretty well back in October 2024, so we think we'll be indulging on Switch 2.

Kirby Air Riders (Switch 2)

Launch date: 20th November 2025

Physical?: Almost certainly

When Masahiro Sakurai teased that he was working on a new game, we're sure many assumed it would be a new Smash or a Kid Icarus Uprising HD. Nope! It's Kirby Air Riders, a sequel to the cult GameCube racer.

Kirby Air Riders is going to be a big step up from the first one, and it's absolutely stuffed full of content. We can't wait to get our hands on this.

The end of 2025 is a busy one, right? We've still got a few more end-of-year releases, including a big one for fans of Samus, with 2026 also starting to crop up...
